We present a new preconditioner for the Schur complement in domain decomposition methods. The new preconditioner seems to be particularly suited for dealing with advection-dominated elliptic problems.

摘要:
In this paper we give a brief survey on the problem of shock structure solutions in fluid dynamics. First the classical results of Gilbarg and Paolucci for the Fourier-Navier-Stokes fluids are considered and then we concentrate our attention to the Extended Thermodynamics models furnishing a set of hyperbolic systems. In the case of 13 moments Grad pointed out the existence of a critical Mach number for which theC1solutions breakdown. We discuss the problem of non existence ofC1solutions for a generic hyperbolic system not only for boundary conditions corresponding to Lax shocks but also for the case of a characteristic shock.

摘要:
A quasilinear first order system of partial differential equations describing nerve pulse propagation is considered. A class of possible exact solutions which describe the “action potential” behaviour is obtained. To accomplish such a plan a mathematical approach based on the introduction of differential constraints is used.

摘要:
We study the problem of the description of a dynamical system of hard disks moving with a finite number of velocities. For such a system starting from the Liouville equation, we derive the BBGKY hierarchy and we give its rigorous mathematical justification. Finally we show that the first equation of the hierarchy corresponds formally to the so-called discrete Enskog equation, derived in a previous paper.
