We formulate a linear, time dependent transport equation for vector wave phenomena by considering a three—dimensional space filled up homogeneously with isotropic bundles of linear ideal flexible strings which are linearly coupled at each point. We determine the restrictions imposed on the form of such a transport equation by the requirements of isotropy, space inversion, time—invariance, causality, time—reversal, conservation of mechanical work in the case of periodic phenomena, and generalizations of Newton's third law. We give few examples of a linear, time—dependent transport equation for wave phenomena. We consider a strong coupling limit where wave equations give an adequate asymptotic description; in particular, we obtain simple mechanical models of elastic media whose wave phenomena are described by Maxwell's equations. In this way we provide a new paradigm for interpretation of wave phenomena as the strong coupling limit of a particular kind of transport phenomenon.

The closure method for proving completeness of Case eigenfunctions is reviewed, and seems to have a number of advantages. A major advantage is the ease with which embedded eigenvalues can be treated. This is illustrated with an example from azimuthally asymmetric transport theory.

This paper analyses the modifications that are warranted in the fluctuation-dissipation theorems by the addition of a multiplicative noise in the Langevin equation modeling the dynamics of a system. The concepts relating the Stratonovich and Ito integrals are employed to derive new relations for the first and second fluctuation-dissipation relations and the virial theorem. For the three dimensional case, the results for the mean and mean square of the angular momentum are obtained for the corresponding Langevin equation with multiplicative noise.

The basic algorithm for the calculation of the second moment for geometrical splitting is presented. This algorithm is derived from the results of the DSA method applying the surface point approximation. Further, infinite sets of path's from the source to the detector are analytically grouped together and a second algorithm is developed which is more inclusive and more efficient than the basic algorithm. Considerations related to the actual use of the DSA method in optimization of geometrical splitting parameters in general purpose Monte Carlo codes are discussed.
