AbstractThe use of a buffered medium for transporting renal biopsy specimens was studied by both immunofluorescent and immunoperoxidase methods. The temporal effects on this method of transport was considered with particular emphasis on the retention of soluble immune complexes deposited in mouse kidneys and the induction of any unusual morphological artifacts. Qualitative results with both methods seemed to indicate that kidney biopsy specimen stored for five days neither showed any observable alterations in degree of staining intensity nor in morphology. Prolonged exposure to this medium, however, produced some loss of staining intensity and possible false positive staining.

AbstractA modified blood stain has been developed for the demonstration and differentiation of cell types in peripheral blood or marrow smears, parasites in blood, and tissue imprint preparations. It is available as a powder extracted from known quantities of dyes of unpolychromed methylene blue, azure II and eosin Y. The powder keeps indefinitely without any appreciable loss of potency, and it is dissolved in 100% methanol or in equal parts of glycerol and methanol. The method of staining is simple and rapid, and the tinctorial patterns closely resemble those of the conventional blood stains, such as Giemsa, Wright, and Leishman. It is specific, stable, reproducible, and as the stain solution ages the staining quality improves.

AbstractA double infiltration method using n-butyl alcohol in conjunction with celloidin and paraplast plus (BCPP) is described. Serial sections cut at 4 microns thick of heavily sclerotized insect cuticle fixed with alcoholic Bouin's fluid are easily obtained. The architecture of the cuticle and the morphology of the underlying tissue show little distortion and excellent staining.

摘要:

AbstractA modified Periodic Acid Schiff's staining procedure to demonstrate normal or pathologic structures in renal biopsy materials is described. The method described in this report yielded good results, and it allowed improved definition of the mesangium, glomerular capillaries and Bowman capsule.
