SUMMARY1The resultant accommodational effect due to equal lens action is approximately simlar in emmetropia and ametropias.2Accommodation produces magnificational decrease.3Image size is equal in all true cases of axial ametropia where indices and curvatures are equal, when fully corrected at the anterior focus of the eye.4Image sizes vary in cases of refractive ametropia of different degree, when R is placed at the anterior focus.5An seikonia is possible in emmetropia or ametropia where the error is equal in both eyes.6Aniseikonia is not necessarily present in anisometropia or antimetropia.7Astigmia is a refractive condition principally of the anterior surface of the cornea.a. Correction of astigmia with R at the anterior focus produces a distorted retinal image. This distortion is in the nature of a difference in magnification in all meridians ranging through 90 deg. of the axis of the astigmia. Since the change in magnification is determined by the meridian, this aberration may be permissably called “Meridional Coma.”b. When astigmia is corrected at the anterior focus of the eye, the nodal point (N2) is not a true point but a line coincidental with the longitudinal axis; positioning of N2as a point depends upon the meridian in consideration. The principle plane P2, if unaffected by pure coma, is cylindrical in configuration.SUMMARY1Anterior lenticonus apparently presents the most logical explanation of accommodation.(a). Increased spherical curvature of both lenticular surfaces is insufficient to supply requisite power.(b). Fincham's conciliation of reduced tension theory with that of anterior lenticonus appears unsound, as a capsule, which would vary in thickness zonally, would cause more deviation from the spherical under great tension.2Increase of index of refraction of the peripheral layers with age, cause a decreased equivalent lenticular index with concomitant increase of refractiv
