摘要:
A new approach for the removal of copper from solid ferrous scrap is described. With this proposal, solid ferrous scrap intermingled with copper is brought into contact with molten aluminium, which preferentially dissolves copper. After a duration of 5 to 10 minutes at a temperature of 1018 ± 5 K, steel scrap is removed from the bath, resulting in being free of copper contamination. The present method offers the advantage of far lower costs than any other processes ever suggested for copper removal.

摘要:
Der Radial‐Axial‐Ringwalzprozeß unterscheidet sich grundlegend vom Längswalzen. Infolge der kontinuierlichen Walzenzustellungen in zwei Walzspalten ist er instationär. Erst ein kinematisches Prozeßmodell erlaubt die sichere Verfolgung der sich ständig ändernden Prozeßbedingungen und ermöglicht eine nach umformtechnologischen Kriterien geführte Prozeßbeeinflussung mittels eines Prozeßrechners. Die Kinematik und Geometrie des Walzprozesses wird analysiert und mathematisch formuliert. Die dieses Bewegungssystem darstellende Differentialgleichung wird entwickelt. Sie beschreibt die Verknüpfung von Walzgeschwindigkeit, Ringgeometrie und den Formänderungen in den beiden Walzspalten. Hierauf basierend werden die Funktionen der Ringquerschnitte entlang des Ringumfanges abgeleitet. Das entwickelte adaptive Prozeßmodell wird mittlerweile mit Erfolg industriell unter den vielfältigsten Produktionsbedingungen eingesetzt. Die mit dem Einsatz sich einstellende Transparenz des Ringwalzprozesses hat neben den neuen technologischen Anwendungen eine wesentliche Vereinfachung in der Bedienung und eine Reduzierung bisheriger Fehlermöglichkeiten erbracht. Neue Prozeßüberwachungsmöglichkeiten für die Maschinendiagnose sind ebenso ein wichtiger Fortschritt.

Coupled thermomechanical finite element model is applied to simulate metal flow and temperature distribution during hot rolling of bimetal plates. Calculations are carried out for various reductions and dimensions of the plates. Two possible versions of the boundary conditions are assumed. The first considers the case when special guides or tensions prevent bending of the sample before entering and after exit from the roll gap. The second allows free bending of the plate on both sides of the mill. Results of calculations include distributions of strain rates, strains, roll pressure, friction forces and temperatures during rolling. Calculated rolling force and torque are compared with the experimental data. Several conclusions regarding the metal flow and heat transfer in various rolling conditions are drawn.

摘要:
Rigid‐plastic finite element model of the tube‐sinking process is validated by comparison of the results of calculation with the experimental data. Brief description of the model is presented in the paper. Experimental tube sinking was performed for copper samples. Mesh‐measurement method was used to determine the strain distributions experimentally. Typical results of calculations and measurements of various process parameters are presented. The results confirm the predictive abilities of the model.

摘要:
The fine‐grained ultra‐high carbon‐alloy tool steel X 245 VCr 10 5, containing large volume fractions of special vanadium and chromium carbides within a ferritic solid solution matrix has been produced by rapid solidification – meltatomization – and powder metallurgical techniques. This steel exhibits structural superplasticity in the temperature regime from 900 to 1150°C at initial strain rates of about ∊̇ = 10−3s−1. High strain‐rate sensitivity parameters ofm>0.4 and uniform tensile elongations up to 950% were recorded. The dominant deformation mechanism in the superplastic region is grain‐boundary sliding accommodated by lattice diffusion. The failure of superplastically strained samples is caused by interlinkages of cavities at matrix/carbide interfaces.

A new method of determining the softening ratioXwas evaluated by comparing stress‐strain curves over the yield point. A widely executed experimental program on the computer‐controlled torsion plastometer allowed us to provide the mathematical description of theX‐value as a function of the deformation temperatureTand timetbetween deformations, temperature of austenitizationTa, straineand strain rate ∊̇ of the previous pass, respectively. The picture in words refers to a microalloyed steel base of C–Mn–Mo–Nb–V which is recovered in the temperature range from 700 to 900°C.
