Oxygen activities in liquid iron deoxidized with aluminium were measured at 1873 K, using a mullite electrolyte having a Cr‐Cr2O3reference mixture. These results were compared with those obtained using commercial tube‐type ZrO2‐8 mol% MgO and plug‐type ZrO2‐9 mol% MgO probes, along with oxygen activities calculated from analysis. Oxygen activities from EMF measurements using mullite and plug‐type probes were found to be in agreement with those calculated from theAl/AI2O3equilibrium and those estimated from analyzed oxygen contents. Polarization effect due to electrochemical oxygen transport was observed in a commercial tube‐type ZrO2‐based probe. Supersaturation in liquid iron deoxidized with aluminium was also measured at 1873 K.

Das mathematische Modell baut auf einer Untergliederung des Gesamtreaktors in Teilräume auf, die untereinander im Stoffaustausch stehen. Jeder einzelne Teilraum wird als idealer Mischer betrachtet. Die Austauschvorgänge zwischen den einzelnen Teilräumen werden durch konstante Kopplungskoeffizienten dargestellt. Die Massenbilanz für den einzumischenden Stoff liefert ein homogenes Differentialgleichungssystem zur Bestimmung der Konzentrationsverläufe in den einzelnen Teilräumen. Verschiedene mathematische Modelle für die Zerlegung der Teilräume werden vorgestellt. Experimentelle Untersuchungen ergaben eine Einteilung in fünf Teilräume. Der Vergleich der berechneten Mischzeiten mit experimentell bestimmten Werten zeigt sehr gute Übereinstimmung.

The development of a matured metallurgical process allows the reduction of the sulphur, nitrogen, hydrogen and total oxygen content to the lowest values in only one secondary metallurgical step during treatment in a ladle tank degassing unit. By careful adjustment of a lime‐saturated ladle top slag at the beginning of the vacuum treatment, it is possible to obtain a desulphurization degree of more than 95%. The process of nitrogen removal by a stirring gas can be described with a dynamic model in excellent agreement with plant trials. The nitrogen content after vacuum treatment depends mainly on the nitrogen content before vacuum, the stirring gas quantity and the sulphur content. The achievable hydrogen contents mainly depend on the stirring gas quantity and dehydrogenisation can be described by the same model used for denitrogenisation. By a cleanliness stirring after the vacuum treatment under a nearly SiO2‐free‐, lime‐alumina slag, saturated with lime, the total‐oxygen content can be lowered to less than 20 ppm.

A mathematical model has been developed to predict the temperature distribution in a moving strip of steel cooled by an array of planar water jets. Experimentally determined nucleate boiling and analytically obtained single‐phase convection and film boiling heat transfer coefficients are used as convective boundary conditions, and thermophysical property variations of the steel with temperature are considered in the analysis. The model equation for the strip temperature distribution is solved numerically, and the model is validated by comparing predicted coiling temperatures with measurements obtained on the runout table of a steel mill.

The brittle‐ductile transition temperature in the solidification range depends on the composition of the phase which solidifies as the last one. The paper presents a thermochemical study of Fe‐Mn‐C‐P system, determining the conditions of crystallisation of carbides, phosphides and the pseudo‐ternary eutectic ML‐M3C‐M3P. Manganese raises the phosphorus concentration in eutectic. The eutectic temperature attains its maximum at about 6% of Mn. Then the brittle‐ductile transition temperature is about 30 K higher than in ternary Fe‐C‐P alloy. A further raise is possible when the alloy is modified by an element forming stable, solide carbide, for ex. titanium.The results of theoretical analysis were verified by experimental work. The influence of titanium on the inclusions appearing in the vicinity of hot cracks of Hadfield cast steel has been studied.

Corrosion fatigue damage and its electrochemical characteristics of high purity ferritic stainless steel (Fe‐26Cr‐1Mo) under symmetrical tension and compression strain control have been investigated in 1M H2SO4and 3.5 % NaCl solution by using three‐electrode technique at imposed passive potential. The tests were carried out at the total strain amplitudes of 4 × 10−3, 8 × 10−3, 1.0 × 10−2and 1.2 × 10−2. The effects of the strain amplitude on the electrochemical dissolution and plastic deformation on the surface were studied particularly. At low strain amplitude (Δεt= 4 × 10−3), the passivity‐maintaining current was small and stable because of the small slip activity. The maximum current at the tensile half cycle,ltp, was always bigger thanlcp, or sometimes equal tolcp, the maximum current at the compressive half cycle in 3.5 % NaCl. At high strain amplitude (Δεt= 1.2 × 10−2), the enhanced deformation on the surface induced the increasing dissolution. The increasing anodic current reflects the breakdown of the surface film, and only one current peak occurs within one cycle. At intermediate strain amplitude (Δεt= 8 × 10−3), the current behaviour was very stable after cyclic hardening in 3.5%, NaCl, but periodical jumpings of current during cycling were observed in the saturation region in 1 M H2SO4.

摘要:
Five microalloyed ferritic steels with a Cr content of 10 to 17 % were cold rolled and recrystallized. Steels with a high volume fraction of Nb and Ti precipitations revealed a deviation from the typical {111} fibre texture. The new main component {557}was explained by particle induced growth selection.
