摘要:
Experimental results with electrical stimulation of the oculomotor nucleus in cats show that central control of accommodation is complexly dependent on stimulus frequency and on locations within the nucleus. A place-frequency theory of central control of accommodation is postulated to account for positive and negative accommodation and is expanded to account both for accommodative convergence and convergence accommodation.

摘要:
The respiratory response of corneal epithelium to a lens statically on its surface depends on the volumes of tears and oxygen contained by the system. Described here for spherical and toric corneal surfaces are mathematical models for calculating such volumes associated with both corneal and haptic lens designs. Comparisons of model predictions with physiological observations of in situ systems are made.

摘要:
The ultrasonic method of assessing the ocular components of refraction provides an observed axial length but no data on the lens surface powers. For many years the phakometric methods have been supplying a full data output on the lens surfaces and relying on a computed value for the axial length: the validity of the latter, however, has been challenged in the light of present-day techniques. A series of equations are presented in which the two techniques are combined to overcome some of the objections to phakometry yet maintain not only the leas data but also include the cardinal points of the eye optical system.

摘要:
A patient was followed for a 17-year period during which time a noncomitant vertical deviation increased markedly. Acceptable cosmesis (illustrated by photographs) and binocular fusion were provided with a series of prismatic corrections, the final one amounting to 20Δ in the major lens and 28Δ through the bifocal segment.
