Zones of epithelial imprint following contact lens wear were commonly found to exhibit local cellular compression, one less wing cell layer and an increased frequency of mitosis.

摘要:
The clinical picture of this X-chromosomal recessive disease is described together with fluorescein angiographic studies which suggest that the vascular anomalies may be the primary lesion.

摘要:
A technique for the determination of chemical binding has been developed which provides a convenient tool to investigate the nature of chemical agent-soft contact lens interaction. Results show benzalkonium chloride binds but thimerosal docs not bind to Bausch & Lomb and Warner-Lambert soft contact lenses.

摘要:
The quality of the keratometric mire reflection is evaluated and related to acuity, corneal edema, comfort and lens acceptance in this study of 800 eyes. A method of classifying distortion is described. When the observer notes such irregularity, several conditions are more likely to occur: the lens will exhibit toricity, vision may not be acceptable to the patient even though acuity is 20/20, and there is a slight but significant probability that the patient will be more uncomfortable while wearing the lens.No significant reliable relationship could be shown between corneal edema and visual acuity nor between lens surface irregularity and edema. More than three fourths of the patients with measurable astigmatism in excess of 1.00 D had acuity better than 20/25.

摘要:
A case report of a patient with “shallow” amblyopia is presented. The patient had previous visual therapy with no success. The value of proper diagnosis before starting treatment is illustrated. Inverse occlusion (patching the amblyopic eye) was found preferable and was successful at an age beyond that usually accepted as a starting point for therapy.

摘要:
Computer systems are now economically feasible in optometric practice. This paper reviews the basic concepts of computer assisted optometry for the non-specialist. Time sharing, remote terminals, and program libraries are discussed. The paper concludes with an example of the use of a conversational computer program intended to assist the optometrist in the design of aniseikonic lenses.
