ABSTRACT.An 81-electrode system is described which is designed for topographic studies of spontaneous and evoked EEG activities. This method combines the standard leads of the International 10–20 System with supplementary electrodes applied midway between leads of the 10–20 system or electrodes in turn situated between 10–20 leads. Auxiliary electrode designations refer to the underlying brain areas and to adjacent leads of the 10–20 method. The utilization of this“10% system”is suggested to promote standardization.

ABSTRACT.Visual evoked potentials can be used in a multiplicity of ways to assess the visual system. Of paramount importance is the manipulation of visual stimuli to preferentially evaluate the various aspects of vision. The utilization of more than one protocol will permit each laboratory to respond to specific diagnostic questions with reliability and accuracy. Development of new ways of assessing the system should be encouraged and will allow a better understanding of vision.

ABSTRACT.Within the past 10 yrs, evoked potentials (EP) have played a prominent role in the armentarium of the clinical neurophysiologist (6) and the auditory system has received its proper share of attention (83). The present paper will review the different kinds of responses from the auditory system with special emphasis on the brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP).
