摘要:
ABSTRACT.Many aspects of immature anatomy and physiology must be considered when recording EEGs from neonates. This article reviews the respiratory, cardiovascular, immune, thermoregulatory, enzyme, and central nervous systems. We describe the structure and function of these systems in the newborn, commonly encountered problems, and common treatments of these problems. A rationale is developed for precautions EEG technologists must take when recording from these infants.

摘要:
ABSTRACT.A distinct theta rhythm in the frontal midline area during performance of mental tasks has been called“frontal midline theta”(Fm theta). This pattern shows interesting individual differences which have been investigated with the use of mental tasks such as an arithmetic addition test. Fm theta is closely related to an attention mechanism, this pattern tends to be more prominent in subjects with higher amplitude but slower frequency of theta-alpha activities in their background EEGs. Fm theta is also more marked in extroverts with insignificant traits of neuroticism and anxiety. The effect of centrally acting drugs on Fm theta was also investigated and it is suggested that relief from anxiety might be associated with the appearance of Fm theta.

ABSTRACT.In the 50 years since their inception, electrodiagnostic techniques in clinical neurophysiology laboratories have grown in sophistication and complexity. They now require trained technical personnel, electroencephalographers, and proper equipment to deliver reliable and useful electrodiagnostic information. The process of EEG laboratory accreditation aims at minimal criteria for competent service from such laboratories. The guidelines for the various aspects of EEG laboratory function established by the American EEG Society (AEEGS) are used for this function.
