摘要:
The rules of the extended donor-acceptor concept are reviewed and applied to interactions between molecules in the gas phase as well as in the solid and liquid states. The applicability of the rules to interactions in solution and at phase boundaries is pointed out. By applying these rules to phenomena in microscopic areas, the different parts of a molecular system are ordered from the point of view of their significance for the whole system under consideration. In this way the concept of “hierarchic order” has been developed and found to be universally applicable to molecular systems. The consequences for the acquisition of new knowledge in all branches of molecular science are indicated, and the continuum model of matter is states as one of the basic requirements of the hierarchically ordered relationships.

摘要:
Recent work on measuring the Brønsted acidity of some transition metal carbonyl hydrides is reviewed. The basicity of low-valent transition metal complexes and the mechanism of addition of HX to planar ML4complexes is also discussed. Finally some further consequences of having a weak metal-hydrogen bond are presented.

A survey of the spectral, electrochemical, and chemical properties of organic and inorganic 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) radical derivatives leads to the conclusion that these species form a common family whose properties are largely determined by those of bpy, the one-electron reduction product of bpy.

Within the last decade the number of simple, nonpolymeric sulfur oxides has tripled, and sulfur is now the element with the largest number of oxides. Excluding polymeric compounds, five binary sulfur-oxygen compounds were known in 1970: the short-lived, di-atomic sulfur monoxide (SO), the well known sulfur dioxide (SO2), two molecular forms of sulfur trioxide (monomeric SO3and the heterocyclic S3O9), and the long disputed disulfur monoxide (S2O). Several reviews covering the chemistry of these important compounds have been published.1–4
