This article contains highlights of an interview with Edward Bordin, who later died on August 24, 1992, after a long battle with prostate cancer. It focuses both on his professional history and contributions to the field as well as on his personal life. We were honored to learn from his wife Ruth that portions of the material that follows were read at his funeral service.

The authors describe the thought processes, plans, and reflections of two heterosexual therapists who decided to lead gay and lesbian therapy groups in a university counseling center. The debate regarding the viability of the heterosexual counselor and the gay and lesbian client pair is discussed, as are the practical issues informing and maintaining thegroups. Various measures have been implemented for coping with the problem of sexual harassment in the workplace. Although much of the effort has been provided for special legislation, proper grievance procedures, or actions for organizational change, few attempts have been made to prevent sexual harassment through the application of appropriate training procedures based on effective psycho‐educational methods. The author describes a workshop based on cognitive‐behavioral techniques and is designed to provide women workers with understanding about sexual harassment at work and equip them with various response alternatives to sexual harassment attempts. The authors identify five primary prevention programming precepts dealing with perspective, targets, methods, intentionality, and ethic. They describe how the United States Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education (FIPSE) sponsored University of Cincinnati substance abuse prevention project was developed by following these precepts. They hope that this information will aid others in their development of primary prevention programs in college substance abuse (i.e., alcohol and other drug abuse) or in other areas.

A new ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) 18/19 Career Exploration Program was made available to United States secondary and postsecondary schools in July 1992. The program allows individual students to use their aptitude test results, an inventory of their interests, and personal preferences to identify occupations with characteristics that seem to be consistent with their own. This capability of matching student characteristics to occupations is derived from extensive analyses based on work performed by the U.S. Departments of Labor and Defense.

Two studies explored the relationships between individual psychological health (PH) status and perceptions of family interaction and family climate variables as perceived by young adults. Psychological health was defined within inter‐ and intrapersonal domains, represented by social interest and psychological hardiness. Scores on social interest and hardiness instruments were standardized and added to put the construct of psychological health into practice. Family interaction variables were measured with Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scales‐III (FACES‐III), the Children's Report of Parent Behavior Inventory‐30 (CRPBI‐30), Parent‐Adolescent Communication Scale (PAC), Family Satisfaction Scale (FSS), and the Family Environment Scale (FES). A taxonomy of hindering events that have a negative impact on the group therapy process is identified in this analogue study, A total of 40 critical incident reports collected from various times across the lives of six different interpersonal relations groups were used for the study. Student group participants completed the critical incident reports after each session and described the most hindering event occurring in each group session: the reports were then sorted into categories by judges, and the sorted categories were combined on a proximity matrix for use in cluster analysis.
