This article addresses the incongruences in current philosophical perspectives in the identification and assessment of Native American Indian and Alaska Native gifted and talented youths. 摘要:
This article explores Native American concepts and meanings surrounding the relationship between elders and children, leadership, the meaning of family, spirituality expressed through harmony and balance, the significance of animals, and the Eagle Feather as a sacred symbol in the traditional education of Native American children. The process of traditional education is presented as an alternative educational perspective and approach based on certain universal humanistic values and philosophies.

摘要:
This study examined the relationship between 7 dimensions of self‐concept and achievement in 563 African American 4th‐, 5th‐, and 6th‐graders. After controlling for socioeconomic status, social self‐concept accounted for a significant amount of variability in achievement test scores, whereas school‐related self‐concepts did not. Results do not support earlier research on the relationship between self‐concept and achievement for African American students.

摘要:
Counselors must strive to develop a genuine multicultural perspective to serve their clients' best interests. In the development of this perspective, little consideration has been given to the current use of language and its potential to contain and communicate power as domination. Language change and tolerance for language diversity are suggested as techniques to disarm the language‐as‐power phenomenon, and develop a more empowering use of language in the counseling process.

This article explores the salient theoretical ideas and practical applications surrounding issues regarding diversity, including certain assumptions related to the Western worldview or the accepted frame of reference in American counseling. Western assumptions are contrasted with various divergent cultural perspectives, current training concerns are noted, and implications for counselor educators are provided.
