摘要:
Conventional diffraction experiments using thermal neutrons were performed in the range of momentum transfer between 1 Å−1and 8 Å−1over the total concentration range of the Bi-Cu system. The coherent differential scattering cross section of each liquid alloy was determined and compared with models. The structure of the molten pure elements copper and bismuth as well as of those alloys containing only 10 or 20 at. % of the second component can be described by hard-sphere models.

摘要:
In the present work scattering experiments with cold neutrons are described, which were done with molten Bi-Cu alloys in the region of small momentum transfer (0.08 Å−1<k< 1.5 Å−1). Using the time-of-flight method of analysis for the scattered neutrons, the inelastically scatterered neutrons were separated from the elastically scattered neutrons. The coherent scattering cross section was obtained by integration as the area below the quasielastic line and shows a strong increasing tendency with smaller momentum transfer, especially for the molten alloys in the mid-concentration region. This can be explained by the existence of regions with one kind of atoms within the molten alloys.

摘要:
A method for determining the concentration of segregated regions in molten binary alloys is given. The melt consists of a matrix containing both kinds of atoms in statistical distribution and, furthermore, two kinds of inhomogeneities, one kind containing only Cu and the other kind only Bi atoms.

摘要:
The role of the exponent inequality β + γ > I in the continuity of (∂P/∂T), with the slope of the vaporization curve at the critical point is discussed. A connection between the divergence in the curvature of the vaporization curve and asymmetries in certain thermodynamic functions is established. It is shown, in the context of the scaling law equation of state, that the homogeneous phase specific heat C(1)Von the liquid branch of the coexistence curve is slightlylowerthan on the gas branch, at the same temperature.
