摘要:
The dielectric constant and loss of 1-phenyl-1-, 1-phenyl-2-, 2-phenyl-2-, and 3-phenyl-l-propanol have been measured as a function of temperature forf< 0.5 MHz. The equilibrium polarization depends markedly on the proximity of the phenyl and hydroxyl groups, apparently as a steric factor and not because of any specific OH-phenyl interaction. Dielectric relaxation in these liquids can be described in terms of overlapping Debye regions but for the most sterically hindered species the regions overlap so closely that the Davidson-Cole skewed-arc function becomes a more useful description. Activation energies depend on the degree of steric hindrance; this suggests that H-bond breaking is not the rate determining step in the relaxation mechanism

摘要:
L'étude par voie électrochimique du système or-étain a été effectuée dans l'intervalle de température 380–1050°C et pour des alliages contenant de 5 à 90 at. % d'or. Les auteurs en déduisent les grandeurs thermodynamiques des constituants et précisent certaines lignes d'équilibre du diagramme de phases. Une variation de l'enthalpie et de l'entropie partielles des alliages contenant de 35 à 70 at. % d'or est observée en fonction de la température; ce résultat est discuté, en relation avec les études antérieures, sur la base d'une structure ordonnée subsistant après la fusion de ces alliages.

摘要:
The refractive indices of binary solutions of nitromethane and nitroethane in carbon tetrachloride were determined at 30 and 35°C. Various refractive index-concentration and refractive index-temperature relations were calculated. The nitromethane solutions showed deviations from ideality; the nitroethane solutions did not. The deviations are within the limits of empirical mixture laws.

摘要:
Viscosity and self-diffusivity data for ten liquid metals are correlated by use of the theory of corresponding states and the reducing factors defined by Helfand and Rice. The transport data are used to determine relative values of the pair-potential energy parameters, which are found to have a linear relationship with melting point. By using density data, it is possible to construct reduced correlations for diffusivity and viscosity as functions of reduced temperature without explicitly choosing distance parameters

The velocity of sound in liquid cesium has been measured from its melting point to 655°K, with an accuracy of 1.5%. The velocity of sound was found to be linear with respect to temperature and is described by the relation:V= 1050–0.2882Tmeters/second. Comparison is made with some recently published data.
