摘要:
The theory of Kurosawa of melting in ionic crystals is first reviewed. The form of the theory, it is pointed out, receives some measure of support from the Barr-Dawson-Lidiard correlation between melting temperature and Schottky defect enthalpy.

摘要:
The dielectric constant of MeOHl, T.H.F. and their mixtures have been measured at low temperature. The experimental data are explained by the Eyring significant structure theory. It is shown that theGstructure parameter of the solid-like phase is not independent of temperature. For methanol, the behaviour suggests that monomers dominate at the critical point, dimers in the 290 K temperature range and polymers near the melting point. The Eyring model, applied to the dielectric constant calculations of the mixtures, is very satisfactory in the case of the MeOH-T.H.F. solutions.

摘要:
Ionic liquids, on boiling, are expected to be in equilibrium with molecular vapours. It is to be anticipated that the temperature range of the ionic liquid phase is extensive and comparable with the stability range of the solid. This is confirmed by available data. Boiling at low pressure is found from the data to occur when the Debye Hückel screening length in the ionic melt is a fixed fraction, for the whole family of alkali halides, of the molecular equilibrium spacing. Starting from this regularity, a corresponding states argument is used to make predictions about the critical point.

摘要:
In part I of the present publication we describe the scattering experiments performed using hot neutrons with Cs-melts and with Au-melts. Since Cs as well as Au show large neutron absorption cross sections and since furthermore the tabulated incoherent scattering cross section of Cesium proved to be wrong, it seemed necessary to decide by new scattering experiments between the discrepancies of former papers.

摘要:
Recently with Au-Cs-melts measurements of some physical properties were done such as electrical conductivity,1thermoelectric power,1electromigration,2and magnetic susceptibility.3According to these results appreciable changes in binding must occur during the transition from the pure metal melts to the AuCs-melt. It was assumed that the AuCs-melt is ionic, i.e. consists of Cs+-and Au−-ions.4The difference in Paulings's electronegativities5of Cs and Au supported this assumption. This fact led us to the investigation of the structure and the density of Au-Cs-melts.

摘要:
When an alkali halide, say NaCl, boils, the hot ionic melt is in equilibrium with a vapour of NaCl molecules. These molecules are characterized by an equilibrium separationa0which naturally reflects their ionic nature. In contrast, in the hot melt, an appropriate ionic screening length must play a major role. The ratio of these two lengths, as we shall now demonstrate, by appeal to experimental data, is crucial in discussing boiling.
