摘要:
Densities and viscosities of prop ionic acid in methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol and 1-butanol have been measured at 308.15 K. From experimental data the excess volume (VE), excess viscosity(nE)and the excess molar Gibbs free energy for the activation of flow (G*E) have been computed and presented as functions of composition. The parameter “d” of the Grunberg and Nissan expression has been calculated. The results indicateA-Btype interaction which decreases in strength with an increase in the chain length of alcohols.

摘要:
Using a model equation of state proposed by Chapman and March, which is sufficiently general to contain the models of van der Wails and Dietetic, the thermodynamics of the coexistence curve is set up. The requirement that the critical exponent is less than 1/2 is shown to require a specific non-analytic behavior of a function appearing in the model equation of state. In turn this provides a constraint having the nature of a relation between average density of liquid and vapour and temperature, transcending rectilinear diameters. Comparison between theory and experiment is made to the fluid alkali Cs and for some molecular fluids.

摘要:
We reformulate the Kirkwood-Ramakrishnan-Yussouff theory of freezing into the standard mean field structure of phase transition theory. This approach is then applied to the order-disorder transition in colloidal crystals, where one is dealing with purely repulsive electrostatic interactions. The results are shown to be: 1) roughly consistent with the form of the Lineman criterion; 2) consistent with the Alexander-McTague condition for freezing into a bcc structure; 3) in close quantitative agreement with recent molecular dynamics calculations.

摘要:
In pioneering work, Onsager solved the Smoluchowski equation to obtain the probability that a pair of ions in a dielectric medium will escape mutual neutralization in the longtime limit. In the present paper, an approximate solution of the Smoluchowski equation for a Coulomb field is constructed; general enough to allow the kinetics of the process to be treated. The connection with Onsager's treatment, and the later study of Mozumder, is briefly discussed.

摘要:
The role of binary collisions in Lorentz Gases is investigated through a dynamical theory which incorporates exactly all the effects of a single collision between a pair of particles interacting with a Kennard-Jones potential. The comparison of our results with those of molecular dynamics thus yields a quantitative estimate of the effect and indicates that our simple but very physical model is able to account for a significant portion of the decay of the density fluctuation correlation function, for the wave numbers considered.

摘要:
Isobaric boiling point data for the systems of 1,1,1-trichloroethane and 1,1,2,2-tetra-chloroethane with iso-butanol have been measured over the whole composition range at 300, 500 and 700 mmHg. The experimentalt-xdata have been used to predict Wilson parameters and equilibrium vapour compositions. The parameters are in turn used to predict activity co-efficients and excess Gibbs free energies for these systems over the entire composition range. The values ofGEare positive in the systems at all the pressures studied.

摘要:
Assuming the Wiedemann-Franz law, measured data for electrical conductivity α of liquid Cs and Rb is converted toλe, the electronic contribution to the thermal conductivity A. While the major part of the measured thermal conduction is thereby accounted for, the “residual” ionic contribution, denned as (λ-1—λe−1)−1, does not simply increase as the metal-insulator transition is approached along the coexistence curve.

摘要:
Using a model equation of state which embraces, but transcends, those of van der Wails (W) and Dietrich (D), the equations determining the Spindale curves of monatomic fluids are set up. To exemplify the results, the Spindale curves for the W and D models are given explicitly. Finally, a schematic account is presented of the way a correct critical exponent β can be expected to reflect itself in the Spindale properties.
