摘要:
Excess volumes (VE) for the binary mixtures of 1-bromobutane withn-propanol,i-propanol,n-butanol,i-butanol,n-pentanol,i-pentanol,n-hexanol,n-heptanol andn-octanol have been determined at 303.15 K.VEis almost positive over the entire range of composition in all nine systems studied. The experimental results are explained in terms of depolymerisation of hydrogen bonded alcohol aggregates, decrease in dipolar association and weak hydrogen-bonding interaction of the type Br‒H‒O between unlike molecules.

摘要:
The effect of rare-earth chlorides on the structure of water has been investigated at low concentrations by determining the ultrasonic velocity and density at several temperatures around temperatures corresponding to adiabatic compressibility minimum (TACM) and sound velocity maximum (TSVM) of water. Ultrasonic velocity is determined with an accuracy of ±0.003% using single crystal variable path interferometer and densities to an accuracy of ±0.002% using Pycnometer. The results are discussed in the light of structure breaking or structure making of the Rare-Earth chlorides in water.

摘要:
A simple model for the entropy of mixing of the compound forming binary alloys is proposed. It is shown that the entropy of the associates is proportional to the relative volume contraction of the liquid alloys.

摘要:
A modified form of Dana's apparatus is employed to measure the integral isobaric heats of vaporization of methanol-1,2-dichloroethane and methanol-1,1,1-trichloroethane mixtures at 720 mm Hg. The results are in good agreement with the values calculated from Gambill's equation.

摘要:
The reliability of the concentration cell method for determining cation transference numbers has been tested using solutions of LiCl, NaCl, KCl, NaBr and LiBr in ethylene glycol at 25°C. Concentrations in the range 0.0005 to 0.5 mol dm−3were used. Our transference numbers have been compared with those deduced from previous data on moving boundary and conductivity experiments. Good agreement between both sets of values has been found in most of the solutions, but significant discrepancies appear in the cases of NaBr and LiCl. The mean activity coefficients have been calculated from the EMF data and the transference numbers.

摘要:
The measurements of dielectric constant of a number of binary and ternary mixtures of butyl acetate, butyl alcohol, quinoline, pyridine and o-cresol in carbon tetrachloride and benzene have been made at 35°C. Molecular interaction of these aromatic compounds have been studied in terms of variations in parameters; ‘dipole moment’ (μ), ‘interaction dielectric constant’ (δε), ‘molecular polarisation’ (P) and ‘excess polarisation’ (PE). The dipole moment has been calculated using Hysken's method, the interaction dielectric constant utilizing the equation of ideal mole fraction law and excess polarisation using the theory of Erap and Glasstone. The positive values of δε12for binary mixtures of quinoline and butyl acetate in carbon tetrachloride and benzene have been attributed to the formation of charge transfer complexes. The negative values of δε12and δε123with pyridine suggest that charge transfer interaction is weakened by pyridine in its binary and ternary mixtures. The plot between the excess polarisation value and the product of mole fractions yielded a straight line passing through the origin showing the formation of charge transfer complexes.

摘要:
The infinite frequency shear modulus,G∞, and compressional modulus,K∞, of the Lennard-Jones, LJ, fluid have been determined over essentially the whole phase diagram at densities below the solid-fluid coexistence line using PY, HNC, and Rogers and Young (RY) closures of the Ornstein-Zernike relation. At low density PY is best at reproducing simulationG∞, andK∞, whereas close to the coexistence line, above the critical temperature, the RY closure is best and is remarkably accurate. Agreement is poorest for all three closures belowTcin the liquid phase.

Thermal Conductivity of CuSbSe2and CuBiSe2have been studied in the solid and liquid state in a wide range of temperatures. Measurements of thermal conductivity were carried out using the concentric cylinder method which is based on the flow of heat through a cylindrical wall.

摘要:
A conventional nonelectrolyte solution model which has led to successful predictive equations for solute solubility and infinite dilution chromatographic partition coefficients is extended to systems containing a tautomeric solute dissolved in a binary solvent mixture. The derived expression predicts that the tautomeric solute concentration in a binary solvent is a geometric average of the pure solvent ratios and permits calculation of solute-solvent association constants from variation of the stoichiometric tautomeric solute concentration ratios as a function of binary solvent composition. Experimental data for phenylazonaphthol dissolved in aqueous-ethanol and aqueous-acetone solvent mixtures is discussed in relation to the theoretical model.

摘要:
The critical micelle concentration, degree of dissociation and dissociation constant of dilute solutions of thorium soaps in methanol-benzene mixtures were determined from conductivity measurements. The results showed that these soaps behave as weak electrolytes in dilute solutions below the CMC and the CMC increases in presence of Sudan (IV) dye. The various thermodynamic parameters were also evaluated for both dissociation and micellization processes.
