摘要:

摘要:
Radial distribution functions of liquid helium, neon and xenon at various temperatures and pressures published by different authors have been analysed by the method given before (Bagchi 1972). The relevant significant structural parameters of these liquids are given in the tables. The figures show how the theoretical curves fit the experimental curves and also show the distribution of individual neighbours.

摘要:
Various hard-core type equations of state for fluids are employed to describe loci of extrema of the constant pressure specific heat along isotherms, and loci of extrema of the isobaric thermal expansion coefficient along isobars. Data and formulae pertaining to the critical point and coexistence curve are presented. Comparison is made with experimental results for fluid argon.

摘要:
Explicit formulae are presented for those characteristic curves which can be constructed for a hard-core equation of state. Excellent agreement is obtained with experimental curves for argon up to fairly high pressures (20Pc) and temperatures (10Tc). It is shown that only three termination temperatures are obtainable from a hard-core type second virial coefficient. The limitations of the hard-core equation of state are discussed briefly.

摘要:
Using the force-force correlation function formula for electrical resistivity, plus an approximate result of Bardeen for the effect of scattering on the off-diagonal elements of the density matrix, a self-consistent method of calculating the electronic mean free path in liquid metals is proposed.

摘要:
The asymptotic behaviour of the radial distribution functiong(R) for a liquid was reexamined recently1in a model defining the molecular correlations in terms of a fluctuating local crystalline structure (the quasi-crystalline model). Several different versions of this model have been presented since the earliest one given by Prins.2A more recent version was given by Franchetti3who derived the following formula forg(R) :

摘要:
In a previous article with J. E. Lind, we describe PVT data for liquid mercury obtained over the temperature and pressure ranges 30 to 150°C and O to 8,000 bars respectively.1These data were fitted by expressing pressure as a single quadratic equation in density and temperature following a previous example.2,3Using this equation, in conjunction with the calorimetric properties of Douglas, Ball and Ginnings,4we then computed thermodynamic properties.

摘要:
It is proposed that the liquid phase metal-non metal transition in carbon takes place between an sp hybridized non-metallic liquid, with coordination number two, and a strongly correlated liquid metal in which directional bonding remains important though the hybridization and coordination number will probably change. Only at higher pressures is a quadrivalent liquid metal carbon to be expected, the formation of which should occur at the known maximum in the melting line of graphite. Motivated by a phenomenological argument, possible experiments to clarify the nature of these different liquid phases are proposed.
