摘要:
The clinical and histopathological features of four cases of angiosarcoma in congenital, post-traumatic, and post-hysterectomy lymphedematous limbs are reported. A good correlation between histologic and ultrastructural findings and clinical course was observed.

摘要:
The eruption of multiple lobular capillary hemangiomas (granulomata pyogenicum) is a previously documented but uncommon phenomenon. Reported cases have featured the recurrence of multiple satellite lesions after surgical removal of, or trauma to, a solitary capillary hemangioma. Sporadic cases of multifocal lesions arising de novo in both previously traumatized and uninjured skin have been described as well. We describe herein two unusual patients with disseminated lobular capillary hemangioma. One patient developed skin nodules in several sites, including the mouth, knee, thumb, and foot, after surgical removal of a solitary oculocutaneous neoplasm. The second patient had more than 700 skin lesions, distributed over the entire body. Unlike those in most previously reported examples of this condition, these two patients were elderly. Both were misdiagnosed clinically as having malignant vascular neoplasms, but the behavior of the lesions was benign, despite conservative surgical excisions in one patient and relative lack of therapeutic intervention in the other.

摘要:
Atrophie blanche is an uncommon condition characterized by the development of white atrophic patches of skin on the lower extremities, which form as a result of fibrinoid vasculitis of superficial and mid-dermal vessels followed by necrosis and ulceration of the epidermis. We report four cases in which similar lesions developed on the legs and ankles of young Jewish Russian immigrants to Israel. Although the lesions share many features with atrophie blanche, they differ in their early age of onset, the male predilection, and the extension of the fibrinoid vasculitic process into the subcutaneous tissue. Additionally, the peculiar population clustering (Georgia, U.S.S.R.), common ethnic background, and a family history of similar lesions in close relatives seem to point to a familial or genetic predisposition underlying the development of the disease.

摘要:
We obtained biopsies from early, fully developed, and late lesions of erythema elevatum diutinum (EED) in a 49-year-old man. The histologic and electron-microscopic findings were compared with those reported in the literature and three other cases from our files. Early lesions show leukocytoclastic vasculitis with capillary proliferation. Later lesions show vasculitis, dermal aggregates of neutrophils, fibrosis, and areas of granulation tissue. Newly formed vessels in granulation tissue may be more susceptible to damage by immune complexes, and the early formation of granulation tissue in EED may prevent an early resolution of vasculitis. Damage to dermal connective tissue in EED incites either scarring or, rarely, a fibrohistiocytic proliferation. Ultrastructural examination of one case showed histiocytes with myelin figures and intracellular lipid and cholesterol.

摘要:
We report the clinical and electron-microscopic features of endothelial cell toxicity in patients treated with hyperbaric oxygen for prolonged periods for leg ulcers. The clinical manifestations include the appearance of depressed white areas within the bed of granulation tissue, which correlated with decreased vascularity under light microscopy. Electron-microscopic findings include endothelial cells with serrated nuclear membranes and degenerate mitochondria in the cytoplasm. These changes occurred in all patients subjected to at least 8 weeks of hyperbaric oxygen, even though an intermittent regimen was adopted. The changes reversed after 1–2 weeks of cessation of hyperbaric oxygen.

摘要:
The ultrastructural and immunohistochemical characteristics of a high-grade epithelioid angiosarcoma of the scalp are reported. By light microscopy, the neoplasm simulated a poorly differentiated carcinoma, either primary or metastatic from some occult site. Immunohistochemical study, using a specific antibody against factor VIII-related antigen, was positive when direct immunofluorescence was applied to frozen specimens of the neoplasm. Application of immunoperoxidase (avidin-biotin complex method) on paraffin-embedded tissue using the same antibody was negative. Ultrastructurally, the neoplasm had a prominent cytoskeleton of intermediate filaments, numerous pinocytotic vesicles, small intercellular lumina with microvilli on their surfaces, and characteristic intracytoplasmic vacuoles. A brief discussion of the differential diagnostic features is made.

摘要:
We report the autopsy findings in a case of malignant an gioendotheliomatosis proliferans. Neoplastic cells stained positively for leukocyte common antigen, factor VIII-related antigen, and IgG by the indirect peroxidase-antiperoxidase technique. The authors speculate that malignant angioendotheliomatosis proliferans represents a distinctive type of neoplasm that appears either to exhibit bidirectional lymphoid and endothelial diferentiation or to consist of an heterogeneous population of cells.

摘要:
Acquired tufted angioma is a benign, slowly progressive angioma with a typical histologic pattern that was first described by Wilson Jones. The clinical, histopathologic and transmission electron microscopic features of a case of this rare condition are presented. Angioblastoma of Nagakawa is clinically and histopathologically the same as acquired tufted angioma.

摘要:
A case of angiosarcoma involving primarily the gingiva in an 86-year-old woman is reported. The neoplasm was strongly positive for factor VIII-related antigen, negative for cytokeratins, and positive for vimentin, confirming the vascular nature of the tumor. The patient died from heart failure 1 month after surgical excision of the lesion without clinical evidence of metastasis.
