摘要:
AbstractThis review describes the accumulated clinical and experimental evidence and evaluates the methods used for investigations on the relationship of smoking and sexual behavior and fertility. Most of the observations on humans are based on clinical impressions or on population surveys over the smoking habits of fertile and non‐fertile individuals or of individuals with various sexual“difficulties”, Most current population studies draw their study samples from individuals who are self‐selected for sexual problems and not for smoking habits. Individual uses of stimulants or depressants (of which smoking may be only one simple instance) are not taken into consideration. Some reports imply that there is a difference in physical and/or psychological dimensions between smokers and non‐smokers although no dominant and consistent differences in physical or psychological traits emerges between the various groups studied. There is a reported decrease of testosterone level in smokers when compared to non‐smokers and an increase in this testosterone level following the cessation of smoking. But, even if the depression in testosterone levels are found to be a consistent consequence of smoking, the significance of this depression would still appear to be unclear. Sexual behavior has been shown to continue unabated even when androgenic hormones were considerably decreased or even completely absent.Animal research tends to show that there are many factors affecting the sexual behavior and physiology of animals. A high level of stimulation with tobacco smoke or an injection of nicotine appears to interfere with sexual behavior and lead to organ atrophy. However, lower levels of tobacco extracts have no comparable effect and in some investigations even appear to have increased the sexual“drive”observed in animals. While there are no clear data, the general conclusion is inescapable that existing evidence does not support the hypothesis that smoking or tobacco extracts have an effect on sexual activity or procreation.

摘要:
AbstractAs registrar at the First Australian Field Hospital, the author investigated the sexual behavior of Australian troops in Vietnam by questionnaire studies of 488 consecutive venereal disease clinic attenders and 230 soldiers of similar rank randomly selected from the troop population. Masturbation was the most frequent practice for 27% of soldiers, intercourse for 68%, and fellatio for 3.5%; whereas cunnilingus, anal intercourse and homosexual behavior were practiced less commonly. Single and married soldiers had distinctly different patterns of sexual experience, but in all groups those having frequent intercourse made a disproportionate contribution to those infected with V.D. Soldiers having intercourse on the roadside were younger, came from larger families, had less education and were more neurotic than other soldiers. Masturbation had low peer acceptability and was related to age and neuroticism and inversely related to frequent intercourse. Sociologically, fellatio in Vietnam was a different entity from fellatio in the stable environment of the homeland. Although 61% of the troops experienced fellatio in Vietnam and this was with comparative strangers, only 29% had done so in Australia and almost invariably had a close acquaintance with their partners. Fellatio in Australia was strongly associated with advanced education and extraversion, but in Vietnam these parameters were not significant factors. The findings demonstrate that environmental stress and relative peer acceptance may have a pronounced effect on sexual behavior but the sexual output of any individual is markedly influenced by his sociological background.

摘要:
AbstractThe“executive”massage parlor, ostensibly offering relaxation and physical therapy, may often operate as a deviant service system offering masturbation as compromise sexual gratification in competition with traditional forms of prostitution. The young women who work as masseuses, attracted by the remunerative financial opportunity, reject the occupational label and role of prostitute but are willing to assume the responsibility and self‐image of“hand whore.”

摘要:
AbstractSeventy‐three members of the Working Group of Pedophilia, meeting in the framework of Dutch Association for Sexual Reform responded to a questionnaire enquiring about their ages, family status, education, occupation, job satisfaction, first awareness of their sexual predelection and similar questions. The replies, though necessarily skimming only the surface, contradicted in several respects the popular ideas about pedophiles and gave information about several other issues pertinent to pedophilia.

摘要:
AbstractAdolescent contraceptive use has typically been described as being irrational. This impression is reinforced by the apparent widespread non‐use of contraception among sexually‐active teenagers‐who have had benefit of formal sex education and have contraceptive devices available to them. This paradox poses an important social problem. To account for adolescent irrationality the present paper discusses the cognitive‐emotional development typical of the adolescent years, particularly the egocentric nature of intuitive adolescent thought. Several practical implications for improving sex education are proposed on the basis of this discussion.
