AbstractThe ancient Egyptians often regarded anal intercourse as a sign of submissive behavior and Egyptian mythology includes several stories demonstrating this belief. Whether this belief derived from a magical belief or from observation of animals or from an attempt to make a man“womanlike”is uncertain. Evidently quite early in recorded history, however, there is evidence that man recognized that certain forms of sexual behavior implied a dominant‐submissive relationship.

AbstractThe new militant homosexual movement had predecessors in Germany and England, as well as less militant forerunners in the United States. From this social movement, five works of participants and activists are examined. All are self‐serving and hence must be viewed with skepticism, as the ideoloigcal presentation of a viewpoint that is seeking acceptance. Nonetheless, they are a treasurehouse of information. They reflect many psychological difficulties of the participants and the confusion and dissension in the search for the next moves in a disunited movement. These reports range from the perceptive to the mundane; from the historically valuable to the utterly irresponsible.

AbstractAs an aspect of research into pederasty, the author suggests that deeper insights into feelings and emotions, and aspects not usually discussed in scientific articles, might be obtained from an examination of biographies and biographical novels, from specifically pederast novels as well as from fiction with pederast incidents. The volume of legal, historical, fictional and psychological material shows that there is much more sexual involvement between men and boys than has been commonly believed.

AbstractWhile both aversion therapy and psychotherapy can claim considerable success, they also fail occasionally. In view of this experience an attempt has been made to intergrate these therapies. Two cases are discussed in which such collaboration of representatives of both schools was achieved. After successful termination of the treatment, the patients filled out questionnaires in which they evaluated the contribution of each of these therapies.

Abstract“Group marriage”, as used in this paper, refers to a family structure in which three or more adult members (including at least one male and female) live together on a communal basis and share labor, goods, services, money, and the bearing and raising of children, and have sexual access to each other. Larry L. Constantine and Joan M. Constantine, who have done considerable research on group marriage, estimate that the number of such marriages in the United States probably does not exceed one thousand. In this paper the question is raised and on the basis of personal interviews examined whether or not group marriage is a viable alternative to the existing family structure. The author weighs the problems that he observed against the valuable experiences claimed and comes to the conclusion that apparently the former are too great at the present time for the people involved to overcome.

Abstract22 unwed fathers and 22 unwed nonfathers, all wards of the California Youth Authority, were interviewed, (a) More unwed fathers than nonfathers were illegitimate (p<.01) and (b) had siblings with illegitimate children (p<.001). (c) More siblings of illegitimate Ss than siblings of legitimate Ss themselves had illegitimate children (p<.01). More unwed fathers than nonfathers approved (d) of their own children's becoming unwed parents (p<.001) and (e) of extramarital sex (p<.001), but disapproved of (f) the use of contraceptives. They felt (g) responsible for pregnancies they caused (p<.05), (h) said they would marry a woman with another man's illegitimate child (p<.001), and (i) felt that their children would not be affected by their behavior (p<.001).

AbstractPopulation growth in the United States is viewed with alarm by a majority of informed persons. However, this view does not appear to be shared by the public at large. The following research describes an attempt to alter the attitudes concerning the“population explosion”in a target community. The measure of effectiveness was based on interviews with selected sample groups before and after a week of extensive mass media exposure to negative aspects of population growth. No statistically significant changes in attitude were observed following the mass media saturation. Differences in response pattern also are described with regard to age, sex, marital status, education and occupation. Implications of the description and analysis are discussed.
