The sensitivity of various cell cultures to heat‐labile enterotoxins (LT) and Verocytotoxin (VT) of fifteenE. colistrains isolated from cases of pig colibacillosis in Poland was estimated and compared with the effect of enterotoxins of four standardE. colistrains. Often tested cell cultures, only the following were susceptible: CHO, Vero, GMK, and HeLa.

摘要:
The fate of colostrum and other fluids given with an oesophageal feeder was studied in newborn calves and in young calves up to 3 weeks by means of radiological techniques. Any fluid given with an oesophageal feeder was found in the forestomachs, since it apparently did not induce an oesophageal groove reflex. Also when suckling was induced during feeding with the oesophageal feeder, the oesophageal groove reflex did not occur. The outflow of colostrum and other fluids from the forestomachs to the abomasum and small intestine occurred for the most part within 3 hours. Only the emptying of the ventral ruminal sac was sometimes delayed for 24 or 48 hours.

摘要:
Ten Nubian goats were given oral doses of the fresh fruits and leaves ofCassia sennaat 1, 5, and 10 g / kg /day. Eight goats died within 30 days and two others were slaughtered in a moribund condition on days 18 and 29. The clinical signs of diarrhoea, inappetence, loss of condition, and dyspnoea were well correlated with the pathological findings. There was an increase in G.O.T., ammonia, urea, and total cholesterol and a decrease in total protein in the serum of Cassia‐poisoned goats. Blood sugar level was reduced and the increase in the values of Hb, PCV, and RBC was due to haemoconcentration.

摘要:
A granular cell myoblastoma was found in the dorsal side of the tongue of a 9‐year‐old female mongrel Pinscher. Macroscopically the tumour was white, well circumscribed, and 1½> cm in diameter. Microscopically the tumour cells were arranged in small compact nests or cords with delicate, poorly vascularized collagen bundles in between. A cinar structures were found, also a few mitotic figures were present. Cytoplasmic granules showed a positive periodic acid Schiff reaction. Ultrastructural features included indented nuclei and small‐sized vesicular cytoplasmic granules.

摘要:
A total of 250 adult cows and 13 (young) heifers, all seronegative for brucellosis, were vaccinated with a reduced dose (3 × 109) Strain 19 (S‐19) vaccine. Twelve months after vaccination all cattle were negative to the serological tests. The results obtained are similar to those found by other authors and support the use of reduced dose S19 under the heat conditions found in Zambia.
