摘要:
AbstractThe environment in which an equipment operates and associated diagnostic variables, such as metal particle level in engine oil, are factors that can influence an equipment's failure time. These factors can be incorporated into concomitant variable models such as the proportional hazards model (PHM), which has been widely used in medical research but not in engineering reliability. A Weibull PHM is applied to both aircraft engine failure data and marine gas turbine failure data. Examination of the residuals shows a good fit of the Weibull proportional hazards model to the data.

AbstractThe potential of the Monte Carlo method as a common place tool for a broad range of reliability and logistic problems is discussed. The mathematical features of the method are illustrated and biasing methods aimed at reducing the cost of the calculation are described. These methods combine efficiency with simplicity of implementation in multipurpose computer codes. A multipurpose computer code package developed on the basis of the Monte Carlo method is described.

AbstractThis paper shows the significant influence of climatic conditions on the reliability of components in telephone exchanges. The great number of observations made enabled numerous data to be collected. Sophisticated data processing was used using data analysis methods, in particular factor analysis. Prominence was thus given to the various parameters affecting the reliability of components (temperature, hygrometry, location of the board, air conditioning process…). AbstractA continuing study of advanced short‐channel CMOS/SOS arrays has been carried out at the RCA Microelectronics Center (MEC) and at RCA Laboratories, Princeton, NJ, since 1981. A technique to assess the reliability of a new process relatively quickly consists of high‐tempertaure accelerated stress testing of ICs by maintaining the temperature at 200°C, while biasing half the inputs at the positive supply voltage and half at ground. The results of these accelerated stress tests together with device analysis, were used to calculate a failure rate and to determine that time‐dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) is the principal failure mechanism.
