AbstractThis paper presents an application of the sample autocorrelation function to statistical process control where the process data are serially correlated. Two innovative control charts are illustrated: the sample autocorrelation control chart and the group autocorrelation control chart. The important feature is that these control charts will detect shifts in the autocorrelative structure as well as shifts in the mean of the process. The sample autocorrelation function is typically used to identify an appropriate ARIMA model for a time series. The sample autocorrelation function may also be used as the basis of control charts to detect process upsets. Two unique features distingush this application of the sample autocorrelation function to statistical process control. First, the sample autocorrelations are exponentially smoothed estimates. This allows the user to control the sensitivity of the sample autocorrelation control chart. Secondly, the sample autocorrelation control chart is applied to a continuous stream of data—rather than to a static set of data that has been used to fit an ARIMA mode

AbstractIn this paper, an analysis is conducted of the equipment failure regime known as bad‐as‐old. In such a regime, the repair of the machine after an unexpected emergency breakdown does not reset the hazard rate. Only a planned overhaul refreshes the hazard rate. This bad‐as‐old regime is modelled as a non‐homogeneous Poisson process. The structure is comprised of a base‐line hazard rate, here assumed to be Weibull, plus a covariate structure, since such (covariate) factors are found to influence equipment failure times. The results are compared to similar results1when the underlying failure regime is assumed to be good‐as‐new. The analysis performed here is also compared to a previous analysis2in which the base‐line hazard rate was of a non‐parametric form. Several tests are presented as well as an examination of the residuals in order to verify the appropriateness

AbstractAccelerated humidity test data on plastic ICs are analysed, showing higher thermal acceleration and longer life for modern components compared to older ones. Accelerations for total test time in humidity are given, and the effect of assumed moisture ingress time through the plastic is also treated. A procedure for formal qualification of moisture life is proposed.

摘要:
AbstractThis paper discusses two distinct benefits associated with product reliability qualifications by combining individual reliability stress tests into a single test. First, a combined test will make better use of test equipment, personnel and product samples required for the qualification, implying a cost benefit. Secondly, a combined test allows interaction between the stress sources to occur on all failure causes. These benefits were realized as a result of a power supply application. Each individual test was designed to address specific causes which are assumed to be totally independent of other failures. A combined test can verify or deny independence and therefore provide a stronger practical test. Hence, this paper will demonstrate that a combined reliability test will provide more efficient testing with solid engineering product performance coverage. In addition, an approach is proposed for combining tests which fixes the acceleration rates between stress tests as the same ratio as under the nominal operating product environmental conditions.
