摘要:
This study examines the effects of a self‐help program, Parents United, on the members of families in which incest has occurred. Fifty‐six male incest offenders, including three grandfathers, and thirty‐five spouses were studied to assess the impact of the program on participants' attributions of responsibility for incest, changes in family relationships, and subsequent referral and recidivism. The program was successful in increasing participants' feelings of responsibility, and decreasing recidivism, but less successful in keeping the families tog

摘要:
As the number of divorces increases, so does the number of families litigating child custody. In Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Hennepin County Domestic Relations Division, a social services arm of the Family Court, has developed Custody Resolution Counseling (CRC) as an alternative to the traditional Custody Study intervention. The CRC process helps families toward making their own decision regarding custody as opposed to the court imposed decision which follows a Custody Study. The article describes the CRC process and presents a case illustration.

摘要:
This paper discusses a six‐month pilot study done at The Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy. Joint consultations with a Family Therapist and a Matrimonial Attorney were offered to ten couples and one woman contemplating divorce. Sessions were videotaped. A project addendum was done with telephone interviews. The authors were interested in determining whether joint consultations would be useful to help couples understand the psychological and legal implications of conflicts expressed during the separation proces

摘要:
New research indicates more clearly than ever that running away from home is indeed a family affair. Understood as such, the implications for society's jurisdictional response and for effective treatment planning are deep and far‐reaching. The “status offender” legal jurisdiction over runaways needs to be changed and new alternatives for dealing with runaways and their families developed. The planning and implementation of these alternatives need to be informed with the perspectives of a family therapeutic approach sensitive to the intergenerational forces of loyalty, legacy, and trust operating within fam

摘要:
What was Elizabeth Barrett Browning's mysterious and variously diagnosed “disease”? This study reviews biographical material in the light of modern family systems theory and develops a hypothesis that Elizabeth Barrett lived with her family of origin in “anorectic transaction”, and that chronic anorexia nervosa was embedded in the Victorian poet's lifestyle. The characteristics of anorectic families: enmeshment, overprotection, rigidity, and lack of conflict resolution, are shown to have been abundantly present in Barrett family patterns. Robert Browning is compared with a family therapist whose interventions restructure a system and free the anorectic from her dysfunctional

摘要:
The mystery of pain which is refractory to repeated medical and surgical intervention often becomes understandable upon examination of the chronic pain patient's family dynamics. Analogous to recent descriptions of dyadic patterns in depression, the chronic pain patient typically has a partner who performs a caretaking function. The caretaking role, while superficially appearing “helpful”, is in many cases extreme and contributory to the maintenance of the chronic pain role. The concept of collusion is used here to explain the formation and persistence of patient‐caretaker dyads. Case material is presented to show how an examination of the chronic pain patient and his partner can alert the clinician to the presence of psychological factors in chronic

摘要:
In this paper it is recommended that family therapists not repeat a common error experienced in individual therapy: namely, seduction by the unfolding dynamics which lead to an exclusion of the very specific contributions to the family's malfunctioning by the process of alcoholism itself. There are clearly dynamic factors in alcoholism as a disease process which compromise the family's ability to face and alter its destructive effects. A family program, as part of a comprehensive alcoholism treatment program, is briefly described. The importance of providing cognitive input about the disease of alcoholism is emphasized. Combined individual and group intervention address the destructive family dynamics set in motion by alcoholism.
