摘要:
The dream‐like, open‐ended process of play therapy has much in common with the family therapy style of the authors. This paper provides a partial list of similarities between play therapy and family therapy. It reviews methods for using play with families and considers the question of indications and contraindications for play therapy with families. Clinical examples are utilized to illustrate throughout the pa

摘要:
The authors compare the therapist's function to that of a theatrical director who revises a play, the family drama, which the actors continue to recite according to an old script with a foregone conclusion. To achieve his goal, the therapist uses certain contextual (or ‘nodal’) elements to construct an alternative ‘reading’ of events which neutralizes the actors' persistent efforts to make the course of therapy conform to their old p

In this paper the author presents a model of therapy which he proposes to call ‘system therapy.’ Episteme, some basic concepts, stages of the therapeutic process and the training of system therapists are discussed. This paper is meant to be an introduction into system therapy and does not claim to attempt an exhaustive presentation of a complex subj

摘要:
In the search for the process of symptom production, on the one hand, and for the patterns of symptom maintenance, on the other, lies the key difference between the two main orientations in the field of family therapy; the psychodynamic and the system‐oriented approaches. They imply conceptual and operational hypotheses stemming from different logics, different sets of data, different lines of inquiry and, alas, different treatment strategies. Clearly distinctive traits of each of these two lines are discussed and exemplified, with special emphasis on the interactional, systemic vie

摘要:
The purpose of this paper is to stress our belief that therapeutic intervention does not have the power to create durable, predetermined changes in human systems. Still, a number of therapists seem to feel that certain adjustments are necessary if improvement is to occur and try to convince families to adopt them. Such partial moves ignore the question of what has prevented the family from discovering such beneficial adaptations on its own.We suggest that the basic rules of the family prohibit it from changing. Tb stimulate the inherent healing capacities of human systems, a preferable goal might be to validate the present functioning of the family through an understanding of the different levels of its self perception (phenomenological model, mythical model). If this is done effectively, a possible reformulation of the relationship is truly facilitated. Relations between the participants will continue, but will no longer be what they were before. The effectiveness of the intervention is confirmed by the appearance of new beliefs, new perceptions. Any behavioral modifications shown by family members are logical consequences of their new conception of the relationship, not the causes of it.

摘要:
The model of the systemic approach that we commonly use in family therapy is mainly an homeostatic model insisting essentially on negative feedback and allowing little room for amplification phenomena and for abrupt changes that may occur. Our approach, called “systemic,” is related principally to models applying in cases of processes occurring at thermodynamic equilibrium or at stationary states close to equilibrium. In those instances, stability is maintained no matter what external or internal perturbations are exerted on the system. But our practice shows that a modification limited to one part of the family system extends quickly to the whole system. How are those changes brought about? How is an open system, such as the family in which feedback loops exist, pulled away from a stationary state? It was partly to answer such questions that we started to give attention to organizational forms likely to appear away from thermodynamic equilibrium and particularly to the work done in this field by the team ofllya Prigogine. Starting with a few examples of “dissipative structures” some concepts will be introduced which seem likely to be fruitful in ou

摘要:
A family model that provides a classification system for family therapists is presented, based on an integration of family systems research in healthy and disturbed families and clinical data. The model provides tools for cross‐sectional, process‐oriented family assessment derived from consideration of family competence in task performance and family operating style. Seven family types result‐optimal, adequate, midrange centripetal, midrange centrifugal, midrange mixed, severely dysfunctional centripetal and severely dysfunctional centrifugal. Identifying characteristics of each type are provided, and intervention strategies and approaches are discussed that follow logically from the asses

摘要:
The present study is a result of an interdisciplinary team's work, where a physicist, a family therapist and a developmental psychologist try to share their knowledge and epistemologies. In this kind of conflictual companionship, models of one discipline are tentatively applied to another. This doesn't imply that the different disciplines are isomorphic, but it provides for unusual frames of reference: questions, possibly essential ones, are reformulated in a new language, or in a perspective which was not accessible within the conceptual framework developed for one particular discipline. Our experience is that this kind of effort, in itself a provocative learning experience, is also conducive to original tentative answers in all disciplines involved. Be they of theoretical or experimental nature, it is then up to the specialists of these disciplines to validate the evolved propositions in terms of their own categories.

摘要:
An approach to family therapy is described in which the conceptual formulation provides a framework for integrating many techniques into a coherent whole. Conflicts in distance regulation, and the “too far/too close” family systems in particular are described to illustrate how the authors conceptualize one form of family dysfunction, and how this formulation generates a set of therapeutic tasks aimed at recalibrating distance boundaries. Teaching practices congruent with the therapy are outli
