摘要:
AbstractWithin the framework of the pseudo‐potential concept and the field of validity of the Ziman‐formula the contribution to the residual electrical resistivity of a 1/2‐screw dislocation is calculated in a b.c.c. metal (potassium). The perturbation potential is specified for a dislocation model, in which the core is described discretely, on the contrary the surrounding matrix as a non‐linearly elastic continuum. The potential of the dislocation core contains resonance states below the Fermi energy. The contributions to the resistivity caused by these states prove to be in the same order of magnitude as experiment

摘要:
AbstractThe probabilities of arrival with directions for a linear biased correlated walk satisfy a set of coupled linear difference equations. An exact analytic solution to the equations subject to a periodic‐boundary and homogeneous‐initial condition is obtained. The Boltzmann entropy (the negative of the Boltzmann constantkBtimes the BoltzmannH‐function) computed in terms of the solution may decrease (or increase) in time, depending on the chosen initial condition. The physical meaning of this striking behavior is discussed by taking diatomic impurities (CO) in liquid solution (Ar) under external electric fields. It is concluded that in the presence of a bias the sense of the time‐development of a general physical system cannot be given by the conventional BoltzmannH

摘要:
AbstractThe lattice statics method is used to calculate the relaxations due to a vacancy created in a lattice. The measured phonon dispersion relations and the elastic constants are used as constraints to calculate the dynamical matrix considering interactions up to eighth neighbour. The calculation shows that the first three shells of atoms relax towards the vacancy. The divacancy binding energy is found to be 0.477 eV which agrees well with simpler model calculation. Considering the uncertainty in the experimental value the agreement between the calculated and experimental value of the monovacancy formation energy is fairly good.
