摘要:
An exploratory study was conducted using a sample of 150 women ranging in age from 60 to 98 years. The women resided in three different environmental settings (long‐term care, intermediate care, and within the community attending adult day care). The assumption in the literature has been that the health status of older adults has an impact upon their body image, yet there have not been any studies that examine this relationshi

摘要:
Stress, an integral part of life and a major consideration in the development of stroke, is central to nursing's holistic philosophy. Stress has been defined in a variety of ways, but now there is increasing consensus for a definition of stress that incorporates individual, cognitive, and affective components. The purpose of this article is to (a) describe the development and evolution of the concept of stress, (b) analyze the three major conceptual approaches to stress, and (c) apply the three approaches to the stroke patient using a case study.

摘要:
A support group provides a safe, accepting environment in which participants have the opportunity to express feelings and to hear others express similar feelings and conflicts. Group members can ask for help, affirming themselves and others. A support group provides an environment for problem solving and feedback. The stroke support group for clients, families, and friends experiencing the frustration and reality of stroke is based on research and group theory framework. The assessment of need process is delineated. Organizational issues, ongoing facilitation strategies, and evaluation techniques are reviewed. Positive outcomes for clients, families, and rehabilitation nurses are discussed.

摘要:
The definition of rehabilitation nursing includes assisting individuals, families, or groups in maintaining, regaining, or improving their level of wellness (Sayles, 1981). This paper examines the role changes and role problems that occur in the family of the rehabilitation client with the sudden onset of a disability. Role theory is briefly presented and used in applying the nursing process in a case study of a family whose father suffered a cerebrovascular accident.
