摘要:
AbstractThe relationship was derived for computer‐controlled colorCRTdisplays between spectral radiant exitance emitted and digital counts. The derivation was historical and could be traced to pioneering work in photographic sensitometry, vacuum tube physics, and broadcast television. By performing radiometric measurements relative to a display's maximum exitance, the model simplified to a two‐stage model. The first stage was a nonlinear transformation relating normalized digital‐to‐analog converter values to device‐dependent monitor tristimulus values using model parameters of gain, offset, and γ. The second stage was a linear transformation where the device‐dependent monitor tristimulus values were transformed to device‐independentCIEtristimulus values. By using the model, colorimetric characterization accuracy of better than 0.5 CIELAB color‐difference units for 125 colors sampling the display color gamut was achieved by measuring the CIE tristimulus values of only eight colors. The model had equivalent performance to methods using extensive measurements and table lookup. © 1993 Joh

摘要:
AbstractThe colorimetric characterization of computer‐controlled CRT displays require radiometric measurements with high precision and accuracy in order to achieve acceptable colorimetric accuracy in defining stimuli generated with this type of imaging modality. Precision and accuracy requirements for photometers, colorimeters, and spectroradiometers were evaluated. When models are used to relate digital counts defining a stimulus and resulting spectral radiant exitance, displays are assumed to exhibit channel and spatial independence. A variety of tests and the results of evaluating four imaging systems are described. From these analyses, measurement accuracy is mainly limited by wavelength scale in the case of spectro‐radiometers and filter fit in the case of colorimeters. Measurement precision is limited by the number of significant figures for fixed‐range devices and signal‐to‐noise limitations for low‐luminance stimuli. Display accuracy is limited by a lack of channel and spatial independence. Display precision is mainly limited by the electronic design of the display and the stability and load independence of the gun amplifiers. © 1993 John Wil

摘要:
AbstractThe study was made for structure of categorized color space in the aperture and the surface color modes. The color appearances of two modes were reproduced on a CRT display with or without a surround configuration. Subjects made categorical color naming with 11 basic color terms. The (x,y,L) color space divided with these terms showed structural difference between the two modes. This result indicates that color is categorized by only chromaticity in the aperture color mode but by luminance and chromaticity in the surface color mode. © 1993 John Wiley&Sons, Inc

摘要:
AbstractOne problem with the use of computer graphics monitors in vision experiments is spatial inhomogeneity: phosphor output intensity can vary between screen locations. This feature complicates accurate display of stimuli—either output must be confined to a small portion of the screen or variability must be accepted. We have developed a platform‐independent spatial compensation algorithm to correct for variance in output luminances over the surface of the screen. We have implemented and tested this algorithm on our own graphics system. © 1993 John Wiley&Sons,

摘要:
AbstractA fast and accurate algorithm for computing color gamuts has been developed. In the form presented here for illustration, color gamuts are computed from the dye amounts of subtractive color mixtures. Based on the one‐to‐one correspondence between dye amount space and color space, the simple four‐step algorithm performs a boundary search in dye amount space and a map over to color space. Application to block dyes and commercial reversal film dyes on a desktop computer demonstrates the algorithm's validity, accuracy, applicability, and exceptional speed. © 1993 John Wiley&Son

摘要:
AbstractThis work attempts to determine the best index for measuring the whiteness of human teeth. For this the classifications obtained from various whiteness indices have been compared, using Spearman's correlation coefficient, with the responses of 20 observers judging a group of 20 samples of porcelain teeth. The index which gives the best results is that proposed by the CIE, WIC, although the Z% and the CIELAB color differenceΔEare also adequate for measuring the whiteness of human teeth. © 1993 John Wiley&Sons, In
