摘要:
ABSTRACTChanges in acid phosphatase and β‐glucuronidase activity were observed in lesions in cases of primary irritant and allergic contact dermatitis caused by dinitrochlorobenzene in guinea pigs.In both types of contact dermatitis, the enzyme activity rose, following the induction, and the peak of activity appeared much later than that of the inflammatory changes; that is, changes in the inflammatory symptoms do not parallel changes in enzyme activity. Thus, it is suggested that changes in lysosomal activity do not have a causative, but a secondary, value in contact dermatit

摘要:
ABSTRACTThe effect of hot spring waters in Beppu City on thein vitrogrowth ofTrichophyton mentagrophytesandTrichophyton rubrumwas studied. The two dermatophytes had the following in common:Thermal waters containing hydrogen sulfide exerted inhibitory effect, and waters containing little or no hydrogen sulfide showed stimulation.Antifungal activity was increased by heat application and was decreased by addition of horse serum. It was found that growth‐inhibiting factors were hydrogen sulfide and elemental sulfur and that growth‐stimulating factors were potassium ion, calcium ion, iron ion, and manganese ion.The coexistence of different ions or salts also exerted stimulatory or inhibitory effect according to the way in which they were combined.Specific activities of thermal waters, i.e., fervorization or aging, exerted no influence on the gro

摘要:
ABSTRACTLymphocytes transformed into large cells with specific antigens and a non‐specific stimulant agent, PHA, were studied by electron microscopy. The large cells stimulated by specific antigens—for instance, tuberculin (PPD), trichophytin, sporotrichin, potassium dichromate, and cobalt chloride—were ultrastructurally different from the PHA‐transformed ones. The latter had poor organellae in the relatively narrow cytoplasmic spaces, resembling the immature lymphocytes reported by other authors, while in the wide cytoplasm of the former were numerous endoplasmic reticula, various dense bodies and lysosome‐like structures. They were similar to macrophages. Cells transformed by PPD showed both acid phosphatase activity and India ink‐phagocytizi

摘要:
ABSTRACTThe immunologic status of patients with mycosis fungoides in various stages was studied by testing skin reaction to PPD, by sensitization with topical application of 2,4 dinitrochlorbenzene, and by in vitro lymphocyte transformation test with PHA. Skin reaction to PPD was depressed in 7 of 8 patients and sensitization to dinitrochlorbenzene was impaired in 6 of 8 patients. In PHA‐induced lymphocyte transformation, when autologous serum was added to the culture medium, the transformation rate was below normal in 7 of 8 patients. When autologous serum was replaced by normal serum, the rate was usally improved and, in 3 patients, recovered to normal range. However, in the remaining 4 patients of whom 3 were at the infiltrative plaque stage, the rate was still below normal (21.5–36.6%). It is suggested that at least in 3 patients there was a serum factor which lymphocyte transformation by PHA. In 2 patients with poikiloderma atrophicans vasculare and parapsoriasis en plaques, no influence of serum was no

摘要:
ABSTRACTIn a case of infantile digital fibromatosis in a 5‐month‐old female baby, there were lesions on the digits, and later a tumor recurred on the sole. From histological, histochemical and electron microscopic testing, it is suggested that the specific inclusion was composed of peptide with little or no sugar or nucleic acid content and that it was an accumulation of “immature” tropocollagen. A brief review of the literature is pr
