摘要:
We present a two part model for the understanding and treatment of long‐standing sexual problems, especially those involving desire discrepancy between partners. In Part I, a theoretical model is outlined in terms of the normal developmental patterns of relationship development in current Western culture. We then discuss the balances and imbalances that develop as a consequence of differences in styles of loving, which affect sexual expectations and behaviour. In Part II we will examine the implications of the theoretical model for therapeutic interventio

摘要:
The shift from first to second order cybernetics has made the concept of the therapist‐family system part of the everyday discourse of family therapy. In spite of this shift, there is little focus in family therapy literature on the emotional aspects of the therapist‐family system. Relevant process concepts available to us at present, such as induction or accommodation, are poorly defined and inadequate.Three reasons for the neglect of the emotional aspects of family therapy are explored. They are, firstly, more recent theoretical and technical directions, secondly, the politics of gender and thirdly, the enduring difficulty of working with and writing about our own and families' powerful emotions. Finally, following a case example, some psychoanalytic concepts are described and discussed. It is possible that concepts such as counter‐transference and projective identification may enrich family therapists' understanding of what is happening within the therapist‐family

摘要:
This paper expands on an earlier publication (1984), by the author. The earlier paper hypothesized that there were three levels of ‘pathological triangles’ in a stuck supervisory system. These triangles constituted a ‘defence’ against issues of attachment‐detachment from the family of origin for both supervisor and therapist. The current paper discusses the ideas which led to the development of the earlier theory and if utilises a case discussion format to illustrate the application of the theory in a stuck supervisory system. It is argued that this is a useful model for teaching n

摘要:
As family therapists we focus on specific families and their ways of living together, but what of the broader social patterns of family life? Don Edgar has spent the last ten years as Director of The Australian Institute of Family Studies. He left his position as a University lecturer and researcher in Sociology to establish an Institute devoted entirely to research on factors affecting marital and family stability in Australia. Don Edgar's list of publications and conference papers is extensive. His audiences include social scientists, school children, lawyers, judges, social and political policy makers, parents, teachers and anyone who has any access to the media. Under Don Edgar's direction, the Institute of Family Studies has become a hub of family research in Australia.

摘要:
The process of diagnosis in medicine and psychiatry is described. An historical review of the concept of disease provides three models of disease: (1) as a lesion (2) as a host environment relation (3) as a statistical concept, each of which has implications for diagnosis.Three models of psychiatric diagnosis are outlined — (1) the categorical (2) the dimensional, and (3) the multi‐axial. The limitations and deficiencies of each of these models are described, both in general terms and specifically in the light of family‐systems thi
