摘要:
A modified version of Guerin's (1976) classification was used to categorise the principal models of brief family therapy according to theoretical and technical dimensions. While all models stemmed from common origins, either psychodynamic or systems theory, they differed in three particular areas: the premises regarding the origin of symptoms, the aims of therapy, and the major strategies employed. Nevertheless, all models were in agreement on several aspects, including the principles underlying brief family therapy techniques, the focus on the family's current level of functioning, the importance of clearly defining the problem (but not necessarily in terms of traditional psychiatric diagnoses), and other family variables. A survey of the literature indicated that there was a paucity of scientifically acceptable investigations of brief family therapy, and thus, a lack of valid evidence that any model provided an effective approach to therapy.

摘要:
This article outlines a new context for group work with young women who have experienced incest. It describes how ideas from the work of White, Epston, Kamsler and de Shazer on the evolution, maintenance and resolution of problems can be applied to enhance the therapeutic effectiveness of group work with teenage survivors of incest. Externalisation, exploration of beliefs and restorying are found to assist the young women greatly to reconnect with their own resourcefulness.

摘要:
This article describes the metaphors persons used to describe their experiences within a three year training project in family therapy. Questions were posed of trainees that had asked them to describe their experiences of training as if they represented the title of a book, movie or journal article. Responses reveal how they construct or ‘story’ their experiences from both a first and second‐order cybernetic perspe

摘要:
Trainee therapists are attracted to particular treatment philosophies through the influence of complex factors which are embedded in the narratives of the origins and successes of a particular model of treatment. The relevance of these stories to the development of a professional identity is discussed with specific attention to family therapy.

摘要:
Acquired Brain Damage (ABD) causes immense difficulties for individuals and families and is increasingly recognised as a serious community issue. This paper focuses on the burden placed on family members with a head injured relative. The authors propose that when working with families with a member with a neuropsychological condition, the family therapist may be required to embrace a more flexible role. Depending on the developmental needs of the family, the family therapist may at times:provide educational information about brain damage and its effectsarrange family support groups or wider network meetingsbe the family's advocate in the context of complex legal and financial bureaucraciesor undertake marital, sexual or family therapy when required. Whatever the role played, a ‘family sensitive practice’ approach by family therapists is advocated. It is also deemed useful to develop a theoretical assessment model which helps the therapist locate where individual family members are in their negotiation of the tasks of grieving, restructuring, identity reformation and achieving a sense of growth after head injury. Further implications for clinical practice are outli

摘要:
Deborah Luepnitz has gained recognition for her clearly articulated exposition of a feminist family therapy informed by object relations theory. From these vantage points, she has also provided the field with a scholarly critique of some of the major schools and traditions in family therapy. During her visit to Brisbane, where she was one of the plenary speakers at the 1991 Australian Family Therapy Conference, Deborah discussed matters ranging from the personal to the political.

摘要:
The children of separating parents often assume they must take sides in conflicts or pretend not to miss the absent parent. Even when such assumptions are unwarranted young children have difficulty grasping parental reassurances based on the abstract concept of unconditional love. In addition, many children are unable to verbalise the complex range of emotions engendered by feared parental loss or rejection. The Magic Love‐Links story is designed to help children in either difficult
