摘要:
Two important issues in the development of a computer-integrated dimensional inspection environment for manufactured parts are described, namely tolerance specification and comparative analysis. These two issues are related directly and therefore, should be addressed together. For supporting the computer-integrated dimensional inspection, a geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specification module and a comparative analysis module are developed and integrated with CATTA of the IBM CAD/CAM system. The proposed specification module supports ISO and ANSI geometric tolerances and allows multiple tolerance assignments on each single feature as well as on a group of same pattern features. Using this specification module, various tolerance information can be directly specified to the 3D CAD model of a part and can be used to support the subsequent planning and operation for manfacturing and inspection. The comparative analysis module is created to work with the GD&T module for constructing datum reference frames and comparing the actual measurement data with nominal design. After specifying all necessary tolerance information, using discrete measurement data from coordinate measuring machines (CMM), one can evaluate the dimensional quality of an actual feature through the comparative analysis module.

摘要:
This paper addresses the modelling of a problem of growing interest to production engineers, namely the appropriate and cost-effective way of condition monitoring of a production plant. Here a condition monitoring test is assumed which checks the state of wear of a component and records a (0,1) signal depending upon all being well or that wear is below a critical level with the possibility of imminent failure. Decision variables are the critical warning level and frequency of monitoring inspections. Consequence variables are the cost of maintaining plant and the availability of plant for production.

摘要:
The loading problem in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS) is viewed as selecting a subset of jobs from a job pool and allocating the jobs among machines. In this paper a heuristic solution to the loading problem has been suggested by developing the concept of essentiality ratio for the objective of minimizing the system unbalance and thereby maximizing the throughput. The proposed heuristic is tested on ten problems and the results show that the algorithm developed is very reliable and efficient.
