摘要:
Over the past several years, a number of survey, classification, and review articles have focused on scheduling research in machine [only] constrained job shops. Barring the work of Treleven (1989), there is no reported research that presents a detailed review of the issues related to scheduling and sequencing in job shops with multiple resource constraints. In his article, Treleven reviewed the research in job shops constrained by machines and labour. Job shops are not only constrained by machines and labour, but by auxiliary resources (in the form of tooling, etc.) as well. This paper extends the work of Treleven by reviewing the literature on scheduling in job shops constrained by more than one resource and comparing the scheduling research in auxiliary resource-constrained job shops with that of labour-constrained job shops. In addition, this article raises some issues for future scheduling research in multiple resource-constrained job shops.

摘要:
This paper proposes a framework for the dual command cycle continuous travel time model under class-based assignment. TheABCdistribution is incorporated into the model as the inventory turnover function. The evaluation of the continuous approximation and the improvements of class-based assignment over random storage with various inventory turnover functions are also presented.

摘要:
The product development process is subject to randomness of duration of design activities and a path followed through the network of activities. In this paper, the qualitative relationships between various attributes of the design process and the corresponding design process variables are captured using the house of quality and then transformed into quantitative relationships. The impact of the process control variables on the design process attributes is discussed. The problem of determining optimal values of the design process variables to maximize the combined quality index of the critical design activities is modelled as a geometric programming problem.

摘要:
This paper proposes a flow-network-oriented approach that hierarchically addresses the problem of cellular layout design. It consists of three major phases: (1) Utilize theK-Shortest Path method to rationalize the various flows of a system into a master flow network; (2) Based on this flow network, plan a flow pattern and designate the aisle structure for the system; (3) Locate and allocate cells around the flow pattern and the aisle structure within a restricted floor plan. These three phases compose an integrated interactive layout design process. The applicability of this approach as well as its effectiveness is illustrated by case studies.

摘要:
In this paper we study a scheduling problem on a batch processing machine, i.e. on a processor that can manufacture a set of jobs simultaneously. The scheduling objective is to determine the batches of jobs of different types and their loading sequence to fully utilize the processor and to minimize the tool replacing and setting up times. The schedule is subject to some physical and technological constraints due both to the machine capacity and to the limited number of tools at its disposal. The attention given to this problem is motivated by a recurrent scheduling problem occurring in the production management of a typical shoe factory, which is considered as a case study. The paper gives an efficient heuristic procedure leading to a solution close to the optimal one.

摘要:
This paper provides mathematical models to determine optimal tolerances for which the combined manufacturing costs, quality loss, and scrap/rework costs are minimized. The models include cases such as a single component, as well as multiple components for a product. The models also consider the constraints such as design functionality restrictions, product quality requirements, and process capability limits. The models are mainly developed for application in both engineering management and engineering design.

摘要:
It has been observed from an experiment that engineers efficient performance of assembly planning is attributed to their utilization of heuristic rules to generate soft constraints of the assembly sequence, the breadth-first strategy to develop the rough, global plan of the assembly sequence, and the consistent, systematic strategy to finalize the detailed, local plan of the assembly sequence. Those characteristics of the engineers’ assembly planning are used to design the user-centred decision support system to assembly planning.

摘要:
Very little research has focused on dynamic routeing of part families among flexible manufacturing cells, and most of this work has considered part-family formation and routeing as two unrelated decisions. This paper proposes a dynamic routeing method using a fuzzy part-family formation method combined with a certainty factor procedure to suggest the favourable route in a multicell flexible manufacturing system (MCFMS). Computational simulations show that the proposed dynamic routeing method that seeks to balance workload in a multicell flexible manufacturing system is more effective than the fixed routeing method in reducing mean flowtime, mean tardiness, and mean absolute lateness, in an environment characterized by high system utilization (85% or higher) and under a variety of demand patterns.

摘要:
There is a severe scanty of models and solution techniques for the determination of layout and the materials handling system when neither are fixed. This is a complex problem for which this paper proposes a new integrated methodology using a knowledge-based/optimisation approach to the problem. The knowledge-base consists of facts and rules to determine the feasibility of using a materials handling equipment type for a given move. The optimisation part determines the layout of machines minimising the materials handling costs and the dead space in the layout using a multi-criteria optimisation model. The methodology aims to minimise materials handling costs, aisle space usage and dead-space in the resulting layout. It is particularly applicable to heavy manufacturing environments. The system outputs the optimum location, configuration and orientation of machines, and the material handling equipment types, their design capacities, utilisations and the assignment of moves to each item of materials handling equipment. The results of a successful application to an example problem are given.

摘要:
We propose a neural fuzzy (NF) control chart for identifying process mean shifts. A supervised multi-layer backpropagation neural network is trained off-line to detect various mean shifts in a production process. In identifying mean shifts in real-time usage, the neural network's outputs are classified into various decision regions using a fuzzy set scheme. The approach offers better performance and additional advantages over conventional control charts. Simulation results show that the proposed NF control charts are superior to conventional X-bar charts and CUSUM charts in terms of the average run lengths (ARL). The proposed system also has the ability to identify the magnitude of a mean shift, in addition to the Shewhart-type control chart heuristic rules. Correct classification percentages are studied. Furthermore, general guidelines are given for the proper use of the proposed NF charts.
