摘要:
The opposed jet assembly has been adapted for stabilizing a counter flow diffusion flame of ethanol. Data on the thermo-aerodynamic structure of the flame, obtained with the help of interferometric and particle track techniques, have been presented and analysed to yield the heat release rate. The maximum flame temperature is found to be close to adiabatic and the net heat release is in agreement with the theoretically expected value.

摘要:
A method of analysis has been developed for the turbulent flames which are stabilized in a high velocity and high temperature flow, the conditions being very similar to those experienced in turbojet after-burner systems. The theory is based on two basic parameters of turbulent combustion, i.e. velocity of turbulent combustion and time of combustion. The turbulent flame is considered to be thick and the extension of the combustion zone is determined by the time of combustion and the average flow velocity along the stream lines. In the zone of combustion, a linear variation of velocity and temperature is assumed in order to calculate integral terms in overall conservation equations.

摘要:
A fire which is sufficiently far from the walls of a compartment typically produces a hot rising plume which impinges on the ceiling to form a radial, outward moving ceiling-jet. A theory is developed to predict the major characteristics of this turbulent ceiling-jet flow in terms of the fire's heat release rate and distance below the ceiling. Two models of turbulent air entrainment into the ceiling-jet are considered. Comparison of theoretical results with data obtained during a program of large-scale experiments indicates that a simple entrainment model is adequate for a distance of up to several ceiling heights from the central axis of the fire. The analysis can also be applied to situations of a fire in a corner or adjacent to a plane wall.

摘要:
The boundary layer equations for the conservation of mass, momentum and energy are numerically investigated to study the formation and abatement reactions of nitric oxide and carbon monoxide in this layer. The burned gas mixture ofn-octane and air is considered. Eleven species and twenty eight elementary reactions in the laminar flow along a flat plate are accounted for. As models of catalytic reaction at the wall surface, the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide by oxygen and the catalytic reduction of nitric oxide by carbon monoxide are investigated. It is found that the concentration distributions in the laminar flow are controlled by the multi-component diffusion process as well as by the direct changes due to the chemical reactions.

摘要:
Overall rate expressions have been developed to describe the ignition of nearly stagnant fuel-air mixtures in a vertical jet of hot, inert gas. Kinetic parameters, frequency factorA, activation energyE, fuel powerCand oxygen powerD, were computed to match experimental ignition results in the rate expression

摘要:
Analysis of the effect of temperature non-uniformity in radially cooled porous disk burners indicates that sigaificant velocity variations can be produced in the reactants leaving the disk. The assumption of uniform velocity profile for reactants entering a flat flame is shown to be in significant error.
