A particular decomposable mathematical programming problem, denoted (T), is formulated. The objective function of (T) is a sum of concave, piece-wise linear functions. These functions are defined on bounded convex polyhedrons. The coupling restrictions of ('I') are simple and linear. The economic interpretation of (T) is that one wants to divide a vector of available resources between certain different projects, in such a manner that expected payoff is maximized. I t is demonstrated that (T) can be solved by a method very similar to the DANTZIG-WOLFE decomposition algorithm for linear programs.

In this paper, the espected value, the variance,B1andB2are calculated for the midrange in samples of sizen= 4 (1) 10 (5) 20 (10) 100 drawn from the esponential distributionf(x) =e-x,x≧ 0. I t is found that its p. d. f. has a type VI approximation. Also the upper and lower 5, 1 percentage points are calculated for the p. d. f. of the ratio of two independent ranges, range-midrange test, criterion for testing outliers and tests for comparing small samples.
