IfYis normally distributed, then the random variableXwith probability density function given byf(x) =et(x)p(x)/φY(t), has variance equal to that ofY.If Variance (X) = Variance (Y) for alltthenYhas a normal distribution. The proof of this theorem is given in Section 2 and an example of the use of this theorem in small particle statistics is given in Section 3.
