摘要:
In this paper the first two moments of the ratio (treatment sum of squares)/(treatment sum of squares + error sum of squares) over all possible random assignment of treatments to the experimental plots, for a class of 2 associate PBIBD has been obtained. These two monemts are compared with the corresponding moments of a continuous beta distribution to settle the question of approximating the randomization test by the usualF-test. It has been shown that a reasonable approximation to the randomization test based on the statisticFis equivalent to modifying the normal theory test by multiplying the numbers of d.f. of theF-distribution by a factor depending on the heterogeneity of the blocks.

摘要:
In this article, four ratio estimators designated as simple, Quenouille's, Beale's and modified ratio estimators are compared with respect to bias, efficiency, approach to normality and computational convenience. They are shown to be asymptotically minimum variance bound estimators. Some additional ratio estimators are discussed briefly and compared with these. Quenouille's, Beale's, and modified ratio estimators are found to be more attractive than the alternatives compared.

摘要:
In this article a method is presented which provides an efficient technique for estimating herbage weight composition on range units. The estimator derives from a weighted regression of species weight on species cover, i.e., the proportion of ground area covered by foliage of the species. Use of the present method of estimation in conjunction with a “pin-frame” field sampling procedure results in quite substantial savings in sampling cost for given precision, compared to the usual method for estimating weight composition.

摘要:
Tables are given which correspond to the power of various tests which use the Studentt-distribution. Noncentrality parameters are given to 5 decimal places for tests which have Type I error equal to 0.050, 0.025, 0.010 and 0.005. Type II errors are covered as follows: 0.01, 0.05, 0.10 (0.10) 0.90. One-sided and two-sided tests are discussed.

摘要:
The determination of sample size to meet certain probability requirements is a problem which often faces an experimenter when obtaining a confidence interval or testing a hypothesis. This paper includes some new graphs useful in selecting sample size and gives a reference to a new textbook which includes a number of other similar type graphs. The method of construction is explained in detail and examples are included.

摘要:
Under the assumption that neither the mean vector nor the variance-covariance matrix are known with certainty, the natural conjugate family of prior densities for the multivariate Normal process is identified. Prior-posterior and preposterior analysis is done assuming that the prior is in the natural conjugate family. A procedure is presented for obtaining non-degenerate joint posterior and preposterior distributions of all parameters even when the number of objective sample observations is less than the number of parameters of the process.
