摘要:
Many nonparametric competitors to Hotelling'sT2test lackT2's property of invariance under linear transformations. Such tests have power and efficiency that depend on the direction of shift and the covariance matrix of the alternative distribution. This article modifies a previously proposed bivariate sign test and signed rank test to overcome this difficulty. Asymptotic results and a Monte Carlo study indicate that the efficiency and small-sample power of the new procedures compare favorably to those of the original tests. An example illustrates the application of the new procedures.

摘要:
Given one or more groups of multivariate normal samples, methods are presented for forming simultaneous confidence intervals of all ratios of linear forms of the mean vectors. The methods cover the cases of equal or unequal covariances. In a simultaneous inference context, they are multivariate extensions of a method due to Fieller (1954) for estimation of the ratio of two normal means.

摘要:
Certain statistical applications deal with the extremal distributions of the number of points in a moving interval or window of fixed length. This article gives an approximation that is highly accurate for several of these distributions. Applications include the maximum cluster of points on a line or circle, multiple coverage by subintervals or subarcs of fixed size, the length of the longest success run in Bernoulli trials, and the generalized birthday problem.

摘要:
The generalizedFvariate is the ratio of two independent gamma variates, and its distribution includes as special cases such distributions as the inverted beta, Lomax, and Snedecor'sF, Based on convolution, the distribution function of the sum of two independent generalizedFvariates is derived in terms of a Lauricella-Saran hyper-geometric function of three variables. The results are applied, with numerical examples given, to (a) a Bayesian analysis of the availability of a two-component series system and (b) a test of hypothesis on the multinormal mean vector whenever the covariance matrix has the intraclass correlation pattern.

摘要:
The analysis of multiple-response, repeated-measurement or growth curve models with a multivariate random-effects covariance structure for individuals is considered. Results on estimation, hypothesis testing, and simultaneous confidence bounds for the parameters of the generalized linear model of Potthoff and Roy (1964) are derived for the multiple-response repeated-measurements model under the multivariate random-effects covariance structure. Two numerical examples are presented to illustrate these techniques.

摘要:
Assume that a sample is a mixture of two samples from two different populations with distributions Fθ1andFθ2. Given the form ofFθ, estimators of θ1and θ2are introduced. It is shown that the estimators are consistent and their asymptotic joint distribution is derived. The suggested estimators are compared with the maximum likelihood estimators and the method of moments estimators. For small sample sizes the comparison is done by a Monte Carlo study. For large sample sizes the estimators are assessed by numerically computing their asymptotic variances.

摘要:
In this paper we consider the problem of inference from accelerated life tests in which a common parametric family of life distributions at the different stress levels is not specified in advance. By assuming a time transformation function, which is a version of the familiar inverse power law, we give a procedure for testing hypotheses that the unknown distributions are specified members of a location-scale family. The behavior of the test procedure is indicated by some simulations. We illustrate the methodology with some real-life data.
