摘要:
AbstractThis paper describes a new abrasion test for re‐fractories consisting of a controlled sandblasting operation wherein various brands of brick were tested. Graphs show correlations for abrasion loss per hour against other properties for the brands tested. Data and charts which compare this abrasion test with the A.S.T.M. rattler test for paving brick are also include

摘要:
AbstractFactors which cause variations in the finished size of clay products are determined. These are classified in the order of their importance, and limits are established within which the factors must be controlled to reduce these variations to a point which is consistent with the commercial production of modular products. The factors found to have the greatest effect on the finished size are soaking temperature and soaking time. Those factors having a lesser effect are (1) firing atmosphere, (2) relative amounts of clay mineral and quartz present in the clay in the different parts of the pit, (3) grain size of the clay produced by grinding or weathering, and (4) deairing treatment.

摘要:
AbstractThe instrument and methods for measuring the resonant frequencies of brick and for calculating Young's modulus of elasticity are described. Charts correlate elasticity and other properties of fired brick with firing temperatures. Results indicate that the sonic method of determining the modulus of elasticity is suitable for determining the degree of firing that a series of brick has undergone.

摘要:
AbstractA number of samples of soda‐lime, borosilicate, and flint glasses were prepared. The composition of the samples of each type was varied by the use of different percentages of cerium oxide as a glass constituent. The spectral transmission of each sample was determined over the range 250 to 1000 mμ and transmission curves were plott
