摘要:
AbstractA series of enamel compositions are described which differ radically from the present antimony‐ or zirconium‐opacified types of superopaque enamels. The method for deriving formulations is shown. Basically the compositions are an alumina phosphate type of glass. The ratio of SiO: A12O3: P2O6is of extreme importance not only in obtaining maximum reflectance values, but also in determining the color of the fired enamel. Titanium oxide is desirable for developing opacity in this type of composition and the amount required is, to a large extent, dependent upon the SiO2: Al2Os: P2O3ratio. Compositions are given, containing only 5% melted weight of TiO2. These enamels give reflectance values of 80 to 85% at application weights of 40 gm. per sq.

摘要:
AbstractIn the production of extruded brick for lining ball mills, unevenness of the brick such as (1) bow, (2) diagonal twist, (3) sunken faces, (4) depressed and bulged ends, and (5) underfired and cracked centers were reduced by (1) adjusting the die, (2) using grids behind the die, (3) controlling the drop from the die to the cutting table, (4) adjusting the tilt of the cutting table, and (5) stacking the brick during drying. The specific gravity was increased as much as 3.3% by using improved methods of setting the brick in saggers.

摘要:
AbstractAn instrument commonly employed to measure the viscosity of truly viscous liquids was tested to determine its applicability for evaluating consistencies of enamel slips which are solid suspensions in a water medium. Within wide limits of specific gravity differences and variations in set resulting from electrolyte additions, the Brookfield vis‐cosimeter afforded comparable information with the pick‐up and slump tests employed as referen

摘要:
AbstractOptical glasses with high indices of refraction and Abbe values are very desirable for wide angle lenses. In order to determine the range of compositions in which glasses of this type could be produced, oxides of lithium, beryllium, calcium, boron, lanthanum, or thorium were substituted for barium oxide or silica in a three‐or‐four component base glass. Substitutions were made on a mole‐for‐mole basis. The indices of refraction for theC, D, F, andGlines and the liquidus were determined for each glass. Experimental glasses with indices of refraction (nD) and Abbe values from 1.600 to 1.714 and 62.2 to 52.7, respectively, were made in small platinum cr
