摘要:
The area of the phase equilibrium eutectics of ceramic compositions was studied to determine the location of the deformation eutectics. Mixtures of the deformation eutectics then were investigated to disclose the compositions of lowest deformation temperatures and most abrupt fusion.

A complex ferrite composition was investigated to ascertain how much the magnetic properties of the final product were affected by body preparation, forming pressure, firing temperature, and time at peak temperature. One reducing and three oxidizing atmospheres, in addition to a quenching cycle, were investigated. The magnetic parameters μiandBmincreased with density, whereasHcdecreased. 摘要:
Efflorescence on brickwork piers made of three types of brick and six mortars appeared to depend mainly on (a) the Portland cement content of the mortar, (b) the type of brick, and (c) the season of the year. Efflorescence formed in the cold part of the year and was absent in the summer. Portland cement substituted for lime in mortars contributed to efflorescence; however, the amount of efflorescence depended also on the type of brick (probably on the pore structure).

摘要:
Ceramic wicks (Efflorwicks) were partly embedded in cylinders of masonry mortars of various compositions, and the hardened mortars were alternately wetted and dried, which produced various amounts of efflorescence on the wicks. Portland cement in mortars contributed significantly to efflorescence. The alkaline material of the cementing substance of the mortars appeared to be an important source of the efflorescence.

Antimony, usually added as a fining agent in a concentration range of about 0.2 to 2.0% Sb2O3, can be determined readily in many types of glass with a polarograph. 摘要:
The infrared absorption spectra of fused B2O3and of a series of soda borate glasses are presented. These spectra were obtained using vacuum‐pressed briquettes of the powdered glass and powdered KBr. The spectrum of fused B2O3shows quite definitely that this glass does not consist of a completely continuous triangularly coordinative network. It is shown that hydrogen bonds play an important part in the atomic arrangement of the glasses of zero or low soda content. The B2O3glass apparently consists of complexes of an approximate unit (B9O14)‐ held together by hydrogen bonds. One in nine borons is tetrahedrally coordinated. The glasses of low soda content are similar. The spectra for soda concentrations greater than 15% did not permit the determination of the atomic arrangement with exactitude, but it is shown to be quite different from that found in glasses with 10% Na2O or l
