The rate of photosynthesis of two lichen species (Peltigera leucophlebiaandRamalina farinacea) was found to be 30 to 40% that of spinach leaf dises and 20% that of the free-living algaChlorellawhen the results were expressed on a per mg chlorophyll basis. When the algae were isolated from the thalli, the rate of photosynthesis per mg chlorophyll increased forRamalina farinaceaand decreased forPeltigera leucophlebia.Product analysis indicated that the products of photosynthesis depended on the association of the alga with the fungus: algae isolated from the thalli showed a «shift» in products from sugars and sugar alcohols. to compounds such as organic acids. The results suggest that a symbiotic relationship with a fungus alters both the rate and products of algal photosynthesis.

摘要:
Distribution and metabolism of γ-methyleneglutamic acid, γ-methyleneglutamine and other amino acids and amides has been studied during fruit growth ofTribulus terrestris.The largest concentration of free amino acids and amides has been observed in fruit stage 1. The marked decline in the amount of γ-methyleneglutamic acid and γ-methyleneglutamine after fruit stage 1 may indicate their rapid utilization along with asparagine and glutamine during fruit growth. In leaf and in different fruit growth stages, γ-methyleneglutamic acid dominated over γ-methyleneglutamine.

摘要:
Puccinellia festucaeformis (Host) Parl.: germination and early growth on different salt substrates.Germination behaviour ofPuccinellia festucaeformisseeds and early growth of seedlings at different experimental conditions was analysed. The following growth substrates were utilized: NaCl, KCl, KNO3, MgCl2, MgSO4, Na2SO4, NaNO3, CaCl2at the decreasing concentrations of 0.50, 0.25, 0.12, 0.06M. Caryopses were allowed to imbibe and grow at alternating temperatures (10°-20°C or 20°-30°C) in the dark for 3 days. Seedling were grown for 15 days, at controlled light and temperature conditions, in the same nutrient substrates as those used for the germination experiments.
