摘要:
The first machining operation in an automated cell at Perkins of Peterborough, which produces diesel engine balancer weights, is turning. The operation is carried out on four CNC lathes from TI Matrix Herbert-Churchill. We look in detail at this cell-within-a-cell and at the other sections that make up the complete balancer unit cell, which cost around £6m.

摘要:
As part of a major investment scheme, Clark Hawthorn on Tyneside has spent over £150 000 on the latest cutting tools. To Les Allen MIProdE, production engineering manager, there's only one way to buy tooling if you want to get the most out of today's modern CNC machines—and that's by going for the most advanced tooling money can buy.

摘要:
The U-Center boring and facing bar for NC machine tools from D'Andrea of Italy, marketed in the UK by Bristol Erickson, is said to have many advantages over standard boring bars, particularly for the subcontractor. We look at the unit, new to the UK, and at some of the Bristol-based firm's exhibits at the forthcoming Mach 84 machine tool show.
