摘要:
TheJusticia striatacomplex is revised. Ten species are recognised, some of which are subdivided into subspecies and/or varieties. The morphological variation within the complex has been analysed by PC A and clustering methods. The complex is shown to be heterogeneous and the relationships with other parts of sect.Harnieriaare discussed. Scatter diagrams, illustrations and distribution maps are also provided in addition to the enumeration of taxa.

摘要:
A study of the floral ontogeny ofPopowiawas carried out to investigate the phyllotactic arrangement of the floral organs and occurring trends in the androecium of Annonaceae. The flower buds arise on a common stalk in the axil of a bract. Three sepals emerge in quick succession and are rapidly overrun in size by two whorls of petals. The androecium is initiated centripetally in successive whorls. A first whorl of three pairs of outer staminodes emerges opposite the outer petals and is followed by nine staminodes. Next a whorl of nine fertile stamens arises in alternation with the second whorl of staminodes. The carpels arise in three alternating whorls of nine. The nature of the perianth parts is morphologically identical. The process of cyclisation of the androecium from a spiral is discussed for Annonaceae and Magnoliidae in general. The inception of the three outer stamen pairs is a widespread reductive step for multistaminate androecia in the process of oligomerization. It is proposed to define the cyclic inception of numerous stamens as whorled polyandry, being an intermediate step between true polyandry and a reduced stamen number in whorls. The absence of a cup‐like shape in the carpel development is related to the flattened receptacl

摘要:
Zenkerella capparidacea, Z. groteiandZ. schliebenii, previously known as three endemic species in Tanzania, are reduced to one species,Z. capparidacea, with two subspecies, ssp.capparidacea(incl. Z.schliebenii) and Z.capparidaceassp.groteicomb, et stat. nov. Descriptions and illustrations are given for both subspecies and their distributions are mapped. One neotype and two lectotypes are selected.

摘要:
After a taxonomic revision of the genera of the tribe Forsskaoleae has been completed a form ofDroguetia inersdiffering from all subspecies recognized and described in that revision has been discovering during field work in the Bale Mountains, SE Ethiopia. The new form is described here and proposed given rank as a subspecies,D. inersssp.pedunculata; the discovery of the new taxon makes a modification of the generic description ofDroguetianecessary.

摘要:
The anatomy of internal secretory spaces in immature and mature aerial stems, rhizomes, and roots of common goldenrod,Solidago canadensis(Asteraceae, tribe Astereae), was studied from resin‐embedded samples cut 1–2 μm thick. Oil‐filled cavities of different lengths, each lined by a uniseriate epithelium, form in young stems and rhizomes. Epithelial cells enlarge and elongate, and some continue to divide mitotically. The cavities thereby expand and accommodate themselves to the growing stem and rhizome. Septa are sometimes forced open by this enlargement, which merges adjacent cavities. Oil reservoirs in roots are probably also cavities, but their lack of densely cytoplasmic epithelial cells prevented us from locating the end walls. Cavities in stem, root, and the cortex of rhizomes occur only as one median file located just outside of each phloem strand; in the pith of rhizomes, however, several files of cavities of larger diameter seem randomly distributed. This study extends our earlier findings that the oil reservoirs in leaves of this species are cavities; we have therefore verified that cavities, not ducts, permeate the goldenrod
