摘要:
Cortisone has a retarding effect on atherogenesis in cholesterol-fed rabbits, despite higher plasma cholesterol levels. This effect of cortisone is prevented by administration of hyaluronidase. The latter intensifies atherosclerosis and deposition of cholesterol in the liver.

摘要:
A sodium tolerance test was applied to rats subjected to three diverse procedures for the production of experimental renal and hormonal hypertension. Sodium tolerance was impaired in all three types of hypertension to the extent that an accelerated excretion of the imposed sodium load occurred, although there was no change in the plasma sodium level. The disturbance was proportional to the height of the blood pressure but occurred even in those treated rats which remained normotensive.

摘要:
The effect of chronic severe anemia upon functional interarterial coronary anastomoses has been studied in dogs. Retrograde flow measurements at controlled aortic pressures and under conditions of normal viscosity and hemoglobin concentration indicate that severe chronic anemia stimulates growth of collaterals to a significant degree. On the other hand, removal of this stimulus by spontaneous recovery from anemia induces regression of collateral function to control levels.

摘要:
During experimental hemorrhagic shock there was a large fall in oxygen saturation of portal, hepatic venous and inferior vena caval blood. Saturation levels were restored to about 90 per cent of the control values after reinfusion of the drawn blood.
