摘要:
The effects of mass transfer and chemical reaction on the flow of a viscous incompressible and chemically reacting fluid past an impulsively started infinite vertical plate are studied. The non‐linear coupled equations of the problem are solved numerically using the explicit finite difference method. The mass transfer parameter has been given various values to include the presence of different gases like H2O, CO2etc. in air. The results characterising the skin‐friction and rate of heat transfer at the plate have been shown graphically.

摘要:
Since occlusion will be present in all but the most constrained environments, the recognition of partially occluded objects is of prime importance. However, almost all of the existing algorithms which resolve the occlusion problem are complicated and require extensive computation. We thus try to develop a recognition system with moderate cost and speed, and a high rate of recognition. In this paper, we present a hierarchical type problem solving technique to match models to objects in the image. The hierarchical object recognition can be divided into two stages:

摘要:
A periodic acoustic point source in shallow sea affected by the free surface and the seafloor is analyzed. Sea water is treated as a slightly compressible homogeneous inviscid fluid, and the material of the seafloor is assumed to be poroelastic. The solution of this problem may be represented as an integration of plane wave expansion of the point source, multiplied by the plane reflection coefficients of the boundaries. In this study, an asymptotic solution of this integration obtained by the method of the steepest descent is adapted. A new plane wave reflection coefficient of the seafloor found by the authors of this study and an idealized plane reflection coefficient of the free surface are applied. Pressure amplitude distributions for different frequencies of sound and for different seafloor materials are presented. It is found that the wave attenuation is very slow, hence it is a problem to apply radiation boundary conditions at the outer fields in numerical computation. It is also found that different seafloor materials assumptions give very different solutions of acoustic waves in layered sea water.

摘要:
The design of control systems with multiple delays was seldom discussed in past years. In this paper, an optimizing design method based on a frequency‐domain criterion is presented for multi‐delayed control systems to achieve good step response performance. The frequency‐domain criterion partitions the space of the controller parameters into two sets — one is undesirable and will cause unsatisfactory response; the other is desirable because it guarantees robust stability and attains satisfactory response with little overshoot and little oscillation. Over the desirable set, the final design parameters are easy to obtain by searching the set of controller parameters that lead to the maximum open‐loop gain. Examples are given to show the usefulness of this approach.
