摘要:
The potential of headspace analysis in the study of dynamic biochemical processes involved in aroma formation and senescence is described, using intact apples cv Golden Delicious as an example. Examination of the emanations of living and intact material was applied successfully in the study of the biochemistry of the ripening process of Golden Delicious apples, by the application of four variants of the headspace technique.

摘要:
Essential oils of fiveAchilleaspecies,A. ptarmica, A. erba-rotta, A. moschata, A. nanaandA. nobilis, growing spontaneously in the Northwest Italian Alps were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Several monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and phenols were identified. Camphor and 1,8 cineole were the major constituents ofA. erba-rotta, whereas germacrene D was particularly abundant inA. ptarmicaandA. nobilis. A. moschataoil contained mainly terpinen-4-ol whereas trans- and cis-isoeugenol were present in good percentages inA. nana. The caryological analyses revealed a diploid (2n = 18) chromosome number for all plants. The absence in the essential oil of proazulene compounds was related to the diploid (2n = 18) chromosome number of the above mentioned species.

摘要:
From an extract of the culture brothof Chaetomium cochlioides, an unusual tetrahydrofuranoid derivative, has been isolated. Using1H-NMR and13C-NMR, this compound was characterized as 2-(buta-l,3-dienyl)-3-hydroxy-4-(penta-l,3-dienyl) tetrahydrofuran. A second tetrahydrofuranoid spiroketal also was isolated from the same culture broth. This latter compound is the first known ketal derived from a branched fatty acid.

摘要:
Two forms ofOriganum vulgareare found growing wild in Portugal. One form, which is widespread in growth possessed an oil which was rich in linalool (36.85%). In contrast, the other oil, which has a localized growth in Southern Portugal, possessed an oil that was rich in thymol (31.86%).

摘要:
Mineral fertilization (N,K,P) trials onSalvia officinalisL. were evaluated on the basis of fresh plant and essential oil yields. Quali-quantitative oil characterization was performed using two columns of different polarity. The results of quantitative analyses are reported. It was found that the concentrations of β-thujone, camphor, p-cymene, β-caryophyllene, α-humulene and caryophyllene oxide were affected significantly by the various concentrations of fertilizers.

摘要:
The headspace volatiles of living and picked tea rose, narcissus, osmanthus, and spearmint were examined comparatively using Tenax as the trapping adsorbent and GC/MS as the method of analysis. It was found that the living rose possessed cis-3-hexenyl acetate (20.67%) as the major volatile component, whereas the major volatile component of the picked rose was 3,5-dimethoxy toluene. Living narcissus flowers were found to contain benzyl acetate (44.0%), 3,4- and 3,5-dimethoxy toluene (35.0%), and indole (5.0%), whereas picked flowers contained benzyl acetate (30–43%), 3,4- and 3,5-dimethoxy toluene (18–39.5%), and indole (0.3–1.0%). Osmanthus flowers (living) were found to possess β-damascenone, dihydro-β-ionol, and 4-keto-β-ionone, whereas these compounds were not detected in either air or nitrogen-purged picked flowers. Finally, harvested spearmint possessed carvone (70.0%) and limonene (2.0%) in its headspace, while the headspace of living spearmint was found to contain carvone (24.0%) and limonene (18.0%). These differences demonstrate that dramatic chemical changes take place in a plant or flower once it is harvested.

摘要:
The essential oil ofLomatium grayifruit was analyzed by means of capillary gas chromatography coupled with EI-MS and NICI-MS. The most abundant constituents are monoterpene hydrocarbons (87.3%) with limonene as the main component (73.8%). In addition, 17 aliphatic esters were identified, which represent 8.2% of the essential oil. The occurrence of these esters, which are not common as constituents of volatile oils of Umbelliferae, is discussed as a phytochemical character ofLomatium grayiand the genusLomatium, respectively.

摘要:
The essential oil ofPogostemon cablin(Blanco) Benth. grown in Vietnam, was analyzed by capillary gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. Patchouli alcohol accounted for about 32–38% of the patchouli oil. Ten more compounds were identified, of which α-bulnesene and α-guaiene were the main components.
