摘要:
A wide range of variations was recorded in the somaclones ofMentha arvensisL. var.piperascensHolmes for menthol (65.2–94.8%), menthone (1.4–20.9%), isomenthone (1.0–5.2%) and menthyl acetate (0.8–8.5%). Correlation analysis of these four constituents revealed a negative significant correlation of menthol with menthone (r= −0.856) and isomenthone (r=−0.837), while menthone had a positive significant correlation with isomenthone (r=0.853). Eight somaclones possessed a higher menthol content than the parent, while five of these had also been ranked promising based on the agronomic characters. On the basis of quantitative and qualitative traits, 27 somaclones were further evaluated in a replicated plant to row trial along with the parent clone. A decline in menthol content along with 2–4 fold increase in menthone and isomenthone was observed in a randomized block design trial with somaclones. Two somaclones (Sc 93 and Sc 179) showed stability in terms of percent composition of the volatile oil. This communication provides a procedure for selecting the plants based on oil composition. The performance of these in vitro raised clones in evaluation trial is discussed in relation to the possibility of improving essential oil quality of mints through somaclonal breeding.

摘要:
The essential oil of the leaves ofPersea gratissimaGaertner cultivated in Turkey was investigated using GC and GC/MS. Twenty-nine of the thirty-six compounds were identified. The bulk of the oil is represented by methyl chavicol (78%). The content in this allylphenol appears to be higher than that normally found in die tarragon and basil oils.

摘要:
The water-distilled essential oil ofSideritis dichotomaHuter was investigated by GC and GC/MS for its constituents. Forty-eight components representing 81% of the total oil were characterized, the major components of which were α-pinene (19.31%) and β-pinene (18.01%).

摘要:
The essential oils isolated from leaves and peels ofCitrus limonBurm cv. “Pant Lemon-1” were analyzed by combination of GC and GC/MS. The oils were found to contain 31 and 56 constituents respectively. Out of these, 27 and 34were identified. Both the leaf oil and the peel oil possess limonene (38.2% and 52.0% respectively) as the major constituents, while other major constituents varied.

摘要:
The volatile components isolated from five cultivars (cvs) of Asian pears were analyzed by capillary GC and GC/MS. Seventeen compounds were identified of which toluene, ethyl butyrate, hexanal, (E)-2-hexenal, ethyl hexanoate, α-farnesene, and C19H40were the major constituents in most cvs.

摘要:
The essential oil of oregano(Lippia graveolensH.B.K.) was produced by steam distillation of samples collected from different locations in the State of Jalisco. A combination of physical and chromatographic analyses was used to determine the quality of the oils produced and to quantify thymol (the major component in this species). Based on thymol content (above 30%) and oil yield (above 1.8%), oregano from two out of twelve locations sampled in the northern part of the State of Jalisco has the possibility of a commercial exploitation.

摘要:
Oils obtained from two samples ofTithonia diversifoliaflowers were examined by GC/MS and retention indices. Of the twenty-one compounds characterized α-pinene (50.8–61.0%), (Z)-β-ocimene (15.5–21.4%), limonene (5.4–6.4%) and p-mentha-1, 5-dien-8-ol (3.9–6.1%) were found to be the major constituents. The composition of the flower oil was found to be similar to the leaf oil of this species.
